A nice 60km gravel ride today. It was a loop but based around the North Downs way taking us from Headley heath in the west to Caterham in the East

Primo grave today.
80k ride out of Milton Keynes, probably 85% off road and 2200meters of climbing.
Rode alot of red routed mountain bike trails too and it was just carnage. Dry and dusty and so many roots.
10/10 ride

jawscrippler would also be suitable -

But the ruts are normally parallel to the road and it's only where there's braking ruts. Ah, nevermind.

Just rode on bridleway in Epping Forest on a bike with caliper brakes, mudguards, and a saddle bag.
Was this a gravel ride or rough stuff? -

Maidenhead, by the airfield,
Went up knowl hill bridal path on the recommendation of @velosaurus today, was excellent , he was also correct in doing it anti clockwise.
It’s called knowl hill, but it’s definitely very steep for something with a bridal path suffix 😥, no foot down tho and got a few cheers from walkers
This taken before I found out About said hill

Most definitely not, I would suggest you just took a wrong turn.

Depends on what he wore. If woolen sweater, then it’s rough stuff. If Lycra or merino, then definitely a wrong turn.

No woollen V neck sweater, bobble hat, shorts or stockings were worn; shoes had cleats. So I clearly took a wrong turn.

However, the bike did have down tube shifters.

Awesome.
Talk to me about the drive train/shifter situation.

GRX 600 lever with tan pan and 5100 deore mech / 11-51 cassette, 38t hope NW on its way.
Wanted to go 2x really but I think this will give enough range for the type of riding.

There’s a big switch around going on - this is replacing the Fugio, most bits either from Fugio or CDF. The Fugio was a disappointment in terms of clearance - frameset will either get sold or replace the CDF as winter road bike / commuter.
You’re going to need a bigger house the way you’re carrying on!
No gravel in Yorkshire today.
