  • What the experts tell me is that regardless of his leg troubles he'd do better if just actually tried to win.

  • Podium shoes only. Good excuse for a TUE...

  • don’t! i’m blushing

  • MVDP was doing 5.84w/kg normalised for the last 1.5h. After 3.5h of racing.

I mean ... that just seems insane. That would be unheard of 10 years ago right?

  • Could be something besides leg length though, as an interim solution
Please keep an eye on it and update on stack watch.

  • If he keeps practicing he’ll be able to keep up with the other guys on the Tuesday morning Zwift ride

  • without chemicals, probably not.

The big focus on nutrition, hydration and timing have got to be one of the big improvements.
400w would be burning 1500 kcals an hour, at best 400 kcals of carbs an hour in.
Maybe 1.5l of sweat loss an hour?

  • Also the fact that Wout vs Mathieu haas been going on since childhood. Their bodies and minds have developed in a way that normal wunderkinds who havent had to dig as deep to win every weekend aren't used to. Burnout is going to be hard to manage.

  • Hey Adam Blyth, if I can think of a time trial Primoz very famously didn't "execute perfectly" why can't you?

  • @Mickie_Cricket is going to be happy.

  • So Victor Capenaerts is riding w/o socks? I’m dead.

  • Looks good, but what was his run off the bike like?

  • Not feeling that, looks quite Tri.

  • I’m not an EF guy, just enjoy baiting JV on Twitter as he’s quite corny (but thankfully aware of it too).

  • The lineup for Tirenno is ridiculous. WVA v MVDP but of GC big hitters too.

  • Yates, Bernal and Thomas too.

  • no valverde. chipper confirmed

  • Is Sagan still a top competitor?

  • On the evidence of last year, yes. He might have had a disappointing season by his own, high standards, but he still finished in the top ten in over twenty races last year. He also missed the cobbled classics due to his previous commitment to ride the Giro.

  • Sagz Vs sexeh Wout Vs Son of God.

It's like some sort of GCN wet dream.

  • Peak Sagan was doing WVA & MVDP things for years.

  • Yes. I'm sure if we looked back in time we'd find riders that were doing sagz thibgs for years. Maybe Fabio? Gilbert?

  • I’m interested to see how some of the older riders have adapted to training in a pandemic. G openly said on his podcast that in the first lockdown he stopped training and didn’t expect summer tours to run. He did random things like riding 24hrs on Zwift to support the NHS, which would have had quite an impact on his routine. Friebos said Sagan was going very well at the end of 19 season, before the pandemic, but didn’t come out of it in his usual form.

It seems like the young guns adapted to pandemic training well, and came out of the first lockdown firing on all cylinders whereas the older generation were a bit sluggish. So I hope this season we’ll see the likes of Sagan and G on top form as they’ve realised racing will go on and they need to adapt.

For Tirenno, I’m most excited at Ganna and Sagan playing with Wout and MvdP. I want to see more big-lad haymakers.
