  • Lost the click spring. Faux rubber b is great though

  • The Sea Dweller is best in 5 digit variant I reckon. Still a lovely watch, just wears really big.

  • @Regal I can understand his choice, a sub (especially no date) is a perfect everyday piece..

Also, a 300m water resistance dive watch is more than needed for 99% of people, the SD feels a bit overkill for a non professional diver..

@ChainBreaker step between 40 and 43 isn’t that big at first glance, but height has to be take in account

  • I have the old dateless sub and ceramic gmt and I think the ceramics just have that slightly wrong vibe. The ceramics with maxi case are amazing watches and lovely to wear but the older version has subtle qualities that you come to rate after you notice them.

I've had them nearly 15 years now so I feel qualified to give an opinion!

The SD is my least favourite Rolex sports model anyway.

  • You need to put them side by side to compare

  • Maxi case ruins the overall proportions , ceramic bezel compounds this .
Ally bezel subs much , much nicer.

  • Swim down 500m put watch in mouth inhale sweet helium.

Pelagos is a masterpiece, shame there’s nowhere close for me to try one on.

  • Not really my thing , but this seems well done

  • Timex are smashing it at the moment imho

  • I'm moving on a couple of (less nice) Timex, if anyone wants in.
    MK1 Alu

    Allied

  • 41mm seems kinda large

  • That S1 Timex is lovely.

@jv that strap looks sharp! Where did you find it ?

  • The fake rubber b? Ali express

  • That S1 Timex is lovely.

    I like the hollow lugs.

  • Do you mean you'd like to see that or that I should just do it as an exercise? :)

  • I have the old dateless sub and ceramic gmt

    Side by side. LOL

I'd like to see the differences really.

  • I might have time for that. When you're wearing them though the bezel of the ally sub and the markers etc. all have a subtle eye catching shimmer. The maxi ceramic has a bolder look but I don't think it works as well on the wrist. Bracelet on the maxi case is lovely, much nicer than the old one.

I got to choose between old and new gmt because they were both available new when I bought it, the ceramic GMT won me over but it's not a choice you can make without regrets. The fact that it's suddenly desirable now it's been discontinued is a big surprise.

  • I think the wide shoulders of the maxi case will date it but maybe it's just me.

  • The story was that people felt the bezels looked cheap and they faded or got scratched. So they come with this amazing process to make a ceramic bezel and now the replacement cost is 20 times what it used to be. Both typefaces are 'wrong' too.

When I'm wearing them I'm noticing very different things though. Look at the reflections from the skinny lugs and the sharper angles on the fluting for example. That's what catches your eye when you're wearing it.

I think most people buy a sea dweller because they want a date sub without the cyclops.

  • Very interesting!

Net to eachother, the maxi looks insane. Not that I have a place to judge, I think have to try both on next to eachother....

What are the bracelets like? How do they compare? They'r both SELs right?

  • Who'll be picking up the latest Casioak releases?

  • I really liked them when first released, I almost bought one.

Now I'm glad I didn't, really gone off them.

  • Agree on the ceramic bezels - hate em apart from the matte pelagos.

What ref is your sub ? Modern rehaut and drilled lugs seems odd?

  • Those are the new “pink it and shrink it” ladies models. They’re smaller than the regular Casioaks, would be good if they do some neutral colours of those.

These rainbow custom models just launched by the way:
