stupid action films
You rang?
Extraction

Braven
I liked Bushwick but i'm a big Bautista fan (or Stuber if you want more comedy)
London has fallen was fucking terrible in a good wayThe Meg and The Old Guard were not worth the effort for me.
If you can handle more grit then Dredd, The Night Comes for Us and Brawl in Cellblock 99.

Have added The Night Comes For Us to the list, thanks! Have seen the other two, I thought Dredd was great. Not what I was expecting at all. Normally love a bit of grit but my Letterboxd watchlist is all seemingly quite heavy going, I get a bit stumped when I need something a bit more brainless

This, and anything else with Scott Adkins really.
The Debt Collector, I seem to remember being fun with him in tooAny of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films are mindless nonsense.
AmPrime has Buffy the vampire slayer TV series and the first 2/3 seasons are worth a crack (maybe nostalgia fuelled)

Not sure of the best place to ask so thought I'd try on here. Any suggestions for a soundbar with decent virtual surround sound? Maximum of 98cm wide (so not a Sonos Arc)

I don't have Twitter, is someone comparing a genuinely racist, xenophobic horrible movie with a scene in Hott Fuzz where the Satanic village villains say crusty jugglers?
-
• #17259
Yep, absolute false equivalence
-
• #17260
Think the original tweet (this one is shopped) was attempting to compare the slander SATC gets compared to The Sopranos? BORING
i've not seen SATC movie tho, is it that bad?
-
• #17261
I've peeped the pixels and concluded the tweet shown above is, in fact, photoshopped. it is a really subtle job and if you do not have the depth of knowledge and experience that I have I can understand why you would be taken in

Watched Rat Catcher on Mubi last night. Really good, if rather bleak.

Peninsula, follow up to Train to Busan. If you like zombie films, these are a must. Obviously better watched in Korean with subtitles.
Thanks, both excellent

Is Jason Bateman any good in it? I'm a big fan of Arrested Development and Ozark but everything else he's done seems to have been awful, ha ha.
-
• #17266
yes - banger. think morvern callar is on iplayer - lynne ramsey’s next film. worth a watch.
-
• #17267
Yes he's perfectly cast in my opinion. I agree he's had some clangers.
-
• #17268
I'll give it a go! Cheers.
-
• #17269
I'm in that film (briefly)!

Just rewatched “Arrival” for 4th time since 2016 release.
One of my favourite movies.
-
• #17271
I'm still bitter about the time I let my gf book the tickets for that as I was mildly intrigued by the buzz it had been getting and we ended up sitting through space rom-com puke fest passengers instead because she thought that's what it was called and booked the wrong film. only realised going into the theatre when she walked up to the wrong screen.

Oh no, I feel your pain.
I watched Passengers back them and wanted the time wasted back...
Hope you’ve actually watched Arrival since the incident?
-
• #17273
I watched Passengers when it popped up on Sky Movies a few years ago, because Jennifer Lawrence.
Do not regret it for the eye candy but regret it for literally everything else. Terrible film.
-
• #17274
Passengers is the rapey space sleep one right? Nah.

On boxing day, 2019, I got very emotional watching this piece of shit. Purely because I was extremely hungover and the score for the final scene was very similar to the score for the emosh bit of Arrival.

Started watching on your recommendation, but it got a tad heavy.
Will continue, but not sure why the felt compelled to run the characters through the ringer at every opportunity. It felt a little needless at times. Saying that though, I haven't finished, so my words are wind.
