You’ve handled these before?
Are they HEFTY?
: ) -

I haven’t tbh but they don’t look that hefty in the photos. O’Connells will know the wool weight. Have you looked at kanata stuff? One of their cowichans is on my to do list.

Haven't seen Kanata's stuff specifically but there are many producers out there. Here's a little write up about the history of the Cowichan sweater, some say it's cultural appropriation unless it's knitted by the Salish.

The shawl style zip ups never appealed to me but a pullover that was simple in design... -

Nice padded work shirt suggestions? Maybe fleece lined, warm enough for dicking about in the garage but not too jacket like that I can't wear it indoors.

warm enough for dickies about in the garage

I used to have loads of vintage Pendleton padded shirts from eBay but they’re expensive now, garage = destruction for me whether it’s by oil, fire or sawdust.

If you can afford it, IH Ultra Heavy.
Arguably what they were designed for and astoundingly well-made. -
• #3660
Quite like the Dickies but wouldn't mind something a bit nicer and worry the fit might be a bit crap.
Good price though.

Got a link to any padded Pendletons's? Can't figure if any of there current range on the website are padded

• #3662
Very nice but UK prices too steep. I'm hopefully gonna be out in Japan later this year so will stick it on the shopping list.
-
• #3663
Cheaper for you than for me but I understand, they're pretty eye watering prices.

They’re hidden in the jackets section, crazy money though, I would find them used for £30.

I have one IH which is awesome, some pendletons and a Woolrich check shirt. All get regular rotation through the cooler months. They are all rugged warm and able to cover dirt marks.
I found two of the Pendletons online cheap, and bought the other at their outlet store in Vermont. I love the western shirts, poppers make them easy to take off when gardening, chainsawing etc.

Yeah, tempted by the Pendletons, I've had a couple of Board shirts over the last 25 years, maybe time for a restock...

Pendleton isn’t even MiUSA anymore though. If you can find vintage examples at a decent price, they’re a better choice all day long.

Hadn’t realised this. Their blankets are still MIUSA (we have a few including one my wife converted into a poncho for me) but their garments do appear to be made in China. IIRC they still make some of the mackinaw wool for Filson. Despite country of origin for the garments are robust, warm and can repel moderate rain.
My canyon shirts get treated badly (gardening, diy, maintenance work chainsaw etc) and wear the abuse well. -

Oh yeah, not for millenia. The cloth is still US made, and they were sewn in Mexico for awhile, I think offshore now.

Thanks all. There's a couple Pendleton's on Ebay that I'll keep an eye on. This is nice but I want poppers
Woolrich has a decent sale on but not really feeling the look and it bothers me they still use fur on some of there products.
Pretty fixated not the IH shirts right now, @dancing James how's the sizing? Some Japanese brands are a size down so a medium would be small.
-

Iron heart give really precise measurements for each garment so follow this. Additionally you can ask them to check the individual garments they have in stock to see if there is one with longer or shorter sleeves etc etc. As a result I have shirts from them ranging from large to xxxl which all fit perfectly.
Some items they may only stock 4 or 5 in a particular size and colourway. For example the purple western shirt that I have sold out in my size in 36 hours.

Very dull question alert: where does decent boxer briefs and socks?
-
• #3673
Cheers. Would be a big spend for me so i'll wait until I can try some on first. They actually have an outlet near Portsmouth where they offer tailoring and a 10% discount in store.

Now we’re talking. Also wondering.
I need to make a pilgrimage to o’connells after covid. I’d buy up the whole store.
