What time is it? Watches and horology

Yeah, that's the one to go for (no-date, handwind, on a nato). They're just a little pricey for a pure beater, and for the money I think I'd rather have one of the Timefactors Smiths field watch repros (though admittedly they're out of stock until next year).

I’ve found them 25% off, which is under £300. But I quite fancy the white face one, not sure if it’d work with me long term.

It’s a nice watch. But. I had to sell mine because the crystal was so bloody reflective. It was honestly just awful and incredibly frustrating.

Yes, I’ve heard about that too. I live next to Hamilton outlet store, but they are closed now because of Tier 4, so can’t go and see it unfortunately.

A real shame cause otherwise it was nice. I couldn’t tell the time outdoors, though, and that’s just a dealbreaker.

Was reading about this; they don’t appear to use any coating on their glass.

By comparison, here’s the cushion case Khaki Aviation, which does have an AR coating, in bright Californian sun.

After all this gs chat, I walked past the boutique on Pitt St, Sydney today... I dunno, every watch was too shiny, too big, too gaudy.

Store lightning doesn't help but I generally agree. There are some gems though. Imo GS need to sort their catalogue and make it more consistent. Refine what they're good at instead of constantly reinventing.
