I see all the part time “mince pies are a seasonal food” cowards have hit the thread.
Chocolate has no place near a mince pie. It is a heresy.

Don't wish to alarm anyone, but have gregg's changed their mix this year, or maybe I accidentally got a vegan pack.
Were dry and average, only could eat one at a time, normally the whole 6 pack is at risk, did not have that feeling this time
All their packs are vegan. You've probably just got COVID.

Gotta say that much as I dislike him. I'm a big fan of the Paul Hollywood/BBCGoodFood recipe. The satsuma makes the filling so moist and the pastry is really nice and short. With a splodge of brandy butter it's a formidable offering. Down to my final three now.

The first truly upsetting part of this years work situation - not only am I no longer next to a Bread Ahead, and due to poor prep, reliant on local MnS... but I am actively judged for the evening pies I consume. When the day pies were secret, the evening pies were encouraged. Sigh.

Popped into co-op for essential shopping and found myself in the reduced section of their "bakery" buying puff pastry style mince pies. They were a good warm up to the festive season. Money saved will be reinvested in local bakeries.

Those of us who are about to die salute you.... She Who Must be Obeyed has been in the kitchen, which normally gives her a nosebleed as it is such an unfamiliar place, these are the result.
*there is a small chance of survival as apparently they are to her Mums recipe.

Haven't had one for a bit so might pop to Dunn's tomorrow to pick a few up. Got an afternoon in hospital, so what better way to while away the time than eating mince pies.

I've heard that from a few other sources over the years.

Tesco’s Free From. Far too much pastry to mincemeat ratio. I should’ve taken my custom to Sainsbury’s but I needed Genius bread too and they’ve stopped selling it in my local one.

Waitrose plum, honey and ginger pies are pretty good, would definitely have again.
Waitrose Heston mince pies with a lemon crumble, nothing special definitely wouldn't bother with again -

Just picked up a 6 deck of standard Tesco Red. Happy Friday fellow minceateers!

Tesco Finest Crumble Topped. Ok, its not crumble, its the same pastry as the case. Tiny things... no tin case or case of any material? Weird flex, but OK.
Pastry alright not stunning, filling very scant and slightly chewy.....decent taste/smell of Cognac, Brandy and Port
Could smash a 6 deck easily though 6.5/10

I bought some vegan Konditors on Sunday. They are amazing as always but £16 for 12 means they're not winning the affordability points.

This is some crazy wealth on display.
They're £10 for a box of six or £16 for a box of 12.. why two tenner decks?! 🤣

Jana's story is that one box was for a friend but this doesn't stack up as we smashed both of them.
I suppose there's no getting away from the fact that we are mince pie ballers.
Discover the choice? Unbranded? Not sure, but wickedly soft pastry and rich filling hit the spot.
