  • Hahaha!

  • They are so good.

  • Going for home-made right now. Do those figures include sales of mincemeat?

Also wondering if a splash of Ruislip Sloe Gin will make things even more delicious.

  • I'm sure haters gonna hate, but Lidl's Speculoos almond mince tarts are very, very fine. Could do with a bit more filling, but the speculoos pastry is awesome.
In a continued pushing of the mincer envelope, I'm going back in for their salted caramel and black forest crumble versions. I suffer so you don't have to.

  • 1) Who knows? I didn't find the article/paragraph, just the headline.
    2) Always.

  • I'm always skeptical of Konditor as their vegan brownie is one of the worst things I've ever eaten.

  • From the Guardian:
'While mince pie sales slipped 8%, as social distancing rules meant there was less celebrating with friends and colleagues, cream liqueur sales doubled as festive drinking kicked off at home.'

  • Sainsbury's brandy-infused mincemeat mincers: solid performance; not outstanding in any aspect, but equally nothing to let down the side. Definitely worth having a stash as a baseline. 7.5/10

  • I can't vouch for their vegan pies but their normal ones (which are veggie) are the mutts nuts IMHO.

The only mince pie I've had that is better than the ones my Mum used to make. And my Mum is mincer royalty so chevrons >>>>>>>>>

  • Oh trust me. They are VERY good.

  • I thought the pastry was pretty good with these ones. Buttery and not overly sweet. Will be buying more.

  • I might ride up to K&C tomorrow, just to get some of these vaunted pastries.

  • I've just special ordered extra large mince pies

  • We've just bought these but are yet to try them, good to know they're decent!

  • Speculoos

Am I missing out on a posh word or am I too middle class to know a Lidl thing?

  • I think it's the latter.

  • Lotus Biscoff are the middle class description I think

  • I'm pretty engaged on those being the accidentally vegan biscuit of the masse.

  • Best for me so far are Morrison’s own Free From... nice thick pastry and a citrusy filling... dare I say better than Waitrose

  • These are on offer at Sainsbury's. Excellent flavours across the 3, the frangipane is delightful, the maple & pecan is a nice variation on the theme, and the standard has a good butteriness to the pastry, however none are standout.

All do not have enough filling, the ratios are out of wack, and I just can't taste the brandy in the "standard" one.

All of them are enjoyable but none have any pop. I ate 6 in one sitting though, so make of that what you will.

  • Lild black forest crumble mince pies - in the immortal words of 2 unlimited : no no, no no no no, no no no no, no no there's no mincemeat.

Nice topping, but very dry, and as close to a mincer as Danny Dyer is to the throne of England.

  • is there a forum-accepted gold standard pie

  • I suspect there are two.

Konditor are king if your dressing gown is ermine trimmed.

Maybe Greggs for value for monry?

  • is there a forum-accepted gold standard pie

I used to be a vocal advocate for Greggs mincers, but something has changed along the way I feel. They're no longer the boom they once were IMO. Waaaaaay too fucking sweet now.

  • Need to catch back on the MP advent calendar, what's happening?
