Also, if it's a ground floor flat in a Victorian terrace would a full structural survey be overkill
Congratulations on the offer!
For my last two moves (in victorian houses) I've always had full surveys, and would in the future. I don't remember how much a survey costs tbh but I've always reasoned that their cost isn't a lot relative to the house you're buying, and given that money gets thrown around like confetti when you're moving they're not a bad thing to buy.
If you go for it make sure the surveyor you chose is happy to verbally debrief you on the building - and won't mind you phoning up after the event with any further questions.
I used Wilde Trice for my last two moves, and I would use them again happily - they're the only surveyor I've ever used though, so take that into account with the recommendation, and if you do get in touch with them do confirm that they'll talk to you about the survey.

Now I'm in the camp of do I unpack everything or start the renovations already? Joy number one of living in an old property, lack of sockets. By lack I mean 1 double in each room, 2 if I'm lucky.

I went with option 1. Knew I'd change plans a bit and wanted to get a feel for the place first.
Does mean I've got just about nothing done in 2 months though. Apart from fixing the water pressure for the shower. But a proper shower is just about a prerequisite for getting anything else done.
Also, congrats :)

I would largely say option 1. Make a couple of rooms (usually bedroom / living room) habitable so you have some respite from renovation chaos but i'd get cracking with making it yours whilst you have a blank canvas.
Definitely this if you're thinking about chasing new sockets etc. Otherwise all your shit will be covered in an inch of dust.

My place was refurbed just before I bought it so fortunately gone big on sockets, ethernet and coax connections. Annoyingly though half of the rooms have a double socket, ethernet and coax connection four foot up the wall for some unexplained reason.
And renovations first. The motivation to do stuff is much greater when you can't unpack till you do it.

pain in the arse having to repack all the stuff again, when you eventually get round to renovations 6 months down the line. bad enough having to pack once...
congrats on the move - real fun starts now !

Thanks all. Thankfully the upstairs doesn't need much work aside from a new ensuite and decorating, so I figure that'll be the living quarters while I carry out the rest of the work downstairs.
Holding off on the rear of the house until the new year at least as I'm not sure I fancy taking the roof off and being without builders with another lockdown.

Wall mounted TVs?

Sort of where my brain is right now. I've been through plans for the rear of the house and changed them 3 or 4 times already so I'd like to live there and get a feel for what would work best first.

Well that's what you'd assume but they haven't done it in the living room or dining room where I'm actually thinking of wall mounting a tv but have done it in some of the bedrooms and kitchen.

Maybe they misinterpreted the regs?

I doubt it, all the wiring was done by a specialist firm.
The plan is to add shelves where they can be hidden behind things and it will actually mean things like radios won't need trailing power leads.

Not annoying if you're in a wheelchair - I think this is accessible height. Can't explain why only half the rooms are like that though.

Looks lovely! Congrats on finally getting it on the market.
Look forward to having you as a neighbour.
(Edit: Decent price too I'd say)
I'm in!
First night in the new place, take away and bed put up.
I love it already!
