I've never waited that long. Scotland isn't that foreign. I tend to call them to get a discount applied rather than report a problem but a few times I've reported a problem its been resolved relatively quickly. I blame the users.

no, we enquired online to see if they did provide service to us, i got a ohone call from a sales person. i said i hadnt compared prices yet so didnt want to sign up right now.
they took that as an order and turned up to install.
i think the sales guy needed numbers

Surely if you didn't have access to it, that would've nixxed the whole thing at the first stage?

you would have thought

I don't know why I'm sticking up for them.
You'd never rat on a fan?

Virgin are shit if you ever need to talk to them.
But great if you have cable and don't need to talk to them.

Funnily enough after months of problem free Virgin; they have gone down tonight. Can't find a way to call anyone but after going in circles for 20 minutes on their website, "spoke" to a bot via chat who has arranged for an engineer to come and look at the router tomorrow as apparently not a local area issue.
Due between 8am and 12 so guess we'll see what their customer service is like shortly -

Or as I like to call them, my human shields?
-

That chart is bullshit and all. How are other companies listed above Virgin that are rated slower and as reliable?
-
• #887
Maybe that's the issue - I have their cable, TV, phone package and it's been fine. Perhaps they do other stuff like ADSL and it's shit? Although mostly ADSL is shit because of people doing dumb shit with filters and phone lines. I continue to blame the users.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

You sure it's not area wide? There's no recent messages but I found twitter more accurate than status pages:

I think covid has made them much shitter.
They also text you from random mobile numbers and ask you to confirm your security details and don't understand why that's an issue.

That reminds me, my bank rang me the other day to confirm a direct transfer I'd asked for. They asked me what the payment was for, and seemed quite surprised when I said it was none of their fucking business. In fact it was for landscape gardening (boring middle-aged fucker) not coke and midgets, but either way I couldn't really see why it was any business of theirs.

I've similar questions to this a few times at the bank, the only appropriate answer is down the back of the sofa, underneath the mattress, drug dealing or the magic money tree

I remember people complaining about HSBC started doing this a while back for cash withdrawals.
It was not long after they'd been exposed for helping cartels and terrorist launder their money. So I like to imagine that lots of customers gave smart-arsed replies referencing that.

The person who has money coming in or out through illegal means AND is stupid enough to tell the teller that its from that must be small.
-
• #896
When I call them they ask for a password. I've never got a text from them. Are we talking about the same company?
-
• #897
I've had the same thing and worked them over until they tell me what the transaction details are and then I actually had a chance at recalling which coke and midget emporium I was in on that day.
-
• #898
Yeah, I thought that might be the case. Unless you happened to be poking around your router, problems tend to be wider spread.

One of the metrics we used when considering Virgin to cable our block was number of customers left without service for 1 week, 1 month etc. The numbers weren't pretty.

Anecdata - been on Virgin internet only for 5 years. Not a single problem and all teh megabits.
In laws are also on virgin and it’s constant grief for them.
How does that prove anything about their sales and service? You mean one guy driving a van turned up to the wrong address? That's never happened before...
