What about the pelago commuter rack? I got one recently. Can support paniers and a top bag.

I’ve got a Pelago Rack on my Peugeot at the moment. Is just too big for the intended use. Should just hold maximum a small Bag and the light.

Nitto M18 might work, pricey though.

If I buy one, it will probably the VeloOrange one.

Lots of mounts on the fork, could a surly rack work? Definitely get a rack to support the bag IMO, I find bar bags flap about and irritate me.

Cheap (ugly but possibly hackable) option:
No idea why it's gender specific.

This one looks slightly better, €59:

Whats your point against the veloorange one?
-
• #110
I don't have one! I didn't see your post, sorry.
Edit: make sure the struts are the right length though as they don't look adjustable?
-
• #111
I did this, it's a cheap alu rack from sjs that I glued new strut ends to. Still going strong after a few years of daily use. Definitely a bodge though.

I've had a few racks and this was definitely the best. Solid and adjustable.

I agree with you, that the BLB is solid - but the quality is subpar. I had one develop a significant amount of surface rust despite being kept under cover.
-

This. Had one of their baskets and it started rusting after two weeks.
-
• #115
I bought the rack as a combo with the basket, I can only ecco your experience.
In comparison I have a Wald that is several years older, has been stored in worse conditions, but is in much better shape. -

you had those mods done to the frame and forks but then GLUED the rack, braver than I
-
• #117
Yep. Glued the frame mods with silver and the alu rack with epoxy.

+1 for Roger Musson’s book, and wheel jig design. Both excellent
-
• #119
Is it not attached to the fork/bars at all? Did that bodging come later?
Very impressive bodge though.

Yes, there's a strut but it wasn't attached yet in that pic. Sorry to derail OPs thread. Here's a few pics of the whole business:

Hi, super interesting build. Do you think the frame fits tires that are wider than 47mm? Because their website states this but it looks like there is still quiet some space to the frame... Thinking about putting 650b x 2.1 tires on it. Thanks!

Hey, sorry I didn't get that. There is more than enough room to put wider tires yes, you should be able to tell from the pictures. I'm not with the frame to measure at the moment.
But i got myself an update for christmas because the Thomson stem is with 80mm a bit too short and I thought about a silver one since the build was completed.
So apart from a nice screenprint I got myself a silver SimWorks stem. Which will really add to the build I think. Can't wait for covid to be gone and start a real tour soon.
Locally you have Merit Custom Gear and Detour who both make pretty good looking bags. Asking Merit what a framebag costs (~€200) made me get my mum’s sewing machine from the attic and order some fabrics from ExtremTextil.de . You can definitely do it cheaper (I think I use about €45 of material for a framebag) but after making a couple of bags myself I don’t understand how they are making money at those prices, it takes a lot of time.
