I’m trying to figure out what to do with the parts of the my mustang that I don’t want but have no idea what they are or if they are worth salvaging? Any help would be most appreciated... pickups are wired wrong but technically work. As far as I can tell, they are not fender originals. Should I save the pots or switches? I was going to get new wiring and pickups anyway I just hate wasting stuff.

save all the bits man. never know when you may need spares and it's not like they take up space.

Switchcraft and Alpha should at least be good quality bits.

Thanks - I'm def steering towards a Kentucky. KM270 or 272 is looking the choice for me ATM, depending on which finish looks best on the day.
The Eastman MD 305 is a thing of beauty, but I'm wanting an oval hole rather than f holes for that softer tone, out of preference.
Still, its a gorgeous example
If only they had that with an oval hole, as the M304 has a rather showy patterning on it which I'm not keen on

This has probably been covered here before… but what's on everyone's pedal boards? Any new purchases, old favourites or secret weapons?

That Mandolin is beautiful. Would love to get hold of one, but i have too many instruments i'm barely competent on already to add another one.

Moose Electronics are still my top secret weapon for pedals! Glorious fuzz!

Pedal boards, i'm no expert, I would quite like to build a smaller one that my current double-row Pedal Tote one which is a bit big and shit to be carting about to rehearsals and gigs.
My general feel is that the dudes from That Pedal Show have convinced a generation that they need massive switching rigs with multiple power capabilities and filters and and and...
A simple pedal train board, a decent power supply and patch cables is all most of us will ever need really.

Speaking of which I'm selling this lovely thing...
Apologies for the horrible pictures, it's in my folks house and haven't had a chance to take nice pics of it. Say 380eur forum special?

Having said that... I am massive fan of the wet/dry 2 amp set-up.
I bodge it using a Boss TU2 as a splitter. Dirt pedals go to both amps and modulation (just delay and tremolo for me) goes to just one amp. I send dirt plus echo and tremolo to the amp that doesn't have tremolo built-in, which means that if I want to use the other amp's footswitch to turn on the built in reverb and tremolo on that, I get two different tremolos running simultaneously on one amp each.It sounds unbelievable.
Annoyingly though, the tremolo on my amp has stopped working so I can't access that 3d lush goodness at the moment and Covid means I can't get it fixed by anyone I trust right now.

That super cheap Joyo Voodoo Fuzz thing that I bought is okay... can't knock it for twenty something quid. Still looking for my dream fuzz.

Nice tip… I got sold on the Fuzz War from Death By Audio because of Slift. It's pretty fun, super heavy.

At the moment I tend to use a Blues Driver with a JHS Cheese Ball after, but I also picked up the reissue op-amp Big Muff by EHX because I was an enormous Pumpkins fan for a bit as a teenager (specifically the heavy stuff on Siamese Dream / Pisces Iscariot).
I've been more into making electronic music for a while and as a result I've gathered quite a few guitar pedals to use as effects on synths and so on and I've only recently been trying them on guitar. The Waza Craft stuff is brilliant I think. Love the analogue delay, the CE-2w and the DC-2w.

Yeah, I think those things can create the "norm" / "accepted wisdom" rather quickly. I can't listen through an episode of TPS any more, all the tepid white bloke blues soloing is like fingernails down a blackboard to me. His red Tele is a lovely guitar though.

tepid white bloke blues soloing
Feels like this is majority of guitar gear demos -- though in short term there might be some bias from going through Princeton Reverb demos (decided I want to build a kit regardless).

Yeah it's ubiquitous. John Mayer acolytes the lot of 'em.
Josh Scott varies it a bit, thankfully.

I like Josh Scott, and I’ve got a lot of time for Andy Martin’s demo videos. I’m deeply envious of his no-pleccy picking technique.

I quite like the pattern on the 304 - very turn of the (last) century!

Also worth pointing out the differences in 12 vs 14 fresh join + bridge placement
There's a 504 and a 514 on eBay at the moment

Core of my weeny board is still the same... Tremulator, Timmy, Montavillian, Topanga. Recently dusted off my Mojo Hand Mule which is basically a Red Llama, had it up for sale for ages but have totally changed my mind, it's brilliant for od-meets-fuzz, rather Mike Campbell in a way. Nabbed another Mojo Hand on the bay, a Bayou brownface style trem, but instaflipped it as it didn't go nearly slow enough. Also dragged out my PTD Mini Bone GeSi yesterday which is much fuzzy fun if, frankly, jazz rock. So basically sorted... tho teetering on a minor obsession with delays, the Boss waza is on the list...
Oh yes and mandolins... oval hole > f hole, yes indeed all day long. Those Eastmans do look nice. I haven't played my mando in so many years. Ach the guilt.

Did you have any luck, B?

I've got two now, big boy and mini board... Everyone's seen these before, sorry to bore the regulars...
Big one is great but all the stuff I'm doing right now doesn't need heaps of fuzz, of which I have waaaay too much... I could probably slim right down to a tuner, a couple of boosts, one fuzz to rule them all, a tremolo, two delays (I'm really enjoying delay, I think I need two on the big board) and a reverb, which I've never owned in pedal form so I'm on the lookout for one...
Edit: I could use the Zoom as delay 2 but that's always set on reverse reverb... I think I need a true digital delay as well... Silly really...

Funnily enough, thats exactly what I don't like! Guess I just prefer simpler wood patterns.
Now that its returning to work once a week, might have to take a ride up to Hobgoblin one lunch and a have a try of a few. Seeing as its only a mando, it'll fit in the bag easily enough

When I finally bought a board, I made sure that I got one that was slightly on the smaller and practical transport size, so that I've been forced to make a choice about real estate and what I do or don't need. If I want something new, somethings gotta come off.
Currently run - Tuner>Volume Pedal>Vox Wah>Small Stone>AYA BM70 Fuzz>DopeFX Dazed and Confused>Shin-Ei FY6>Belle Epoch.
That plus my power brick all fits in nicely, plus cables, capos, picks and blow.

My boards cheap and cheerful, and currently the most fun thing is an Ultra shifter/Harmoniser from Behringer, the weird accidentally glitchy ness of it is ace, and its also pretty good for faking/adding extra layers to synths.
Thanks, Al... See how Bleak gets on, may be no need!
