  • I Hate thread>>>>>>>>

  • Yeah. Millions of sneetches. Sneetches for me.

  • Been forced to listen to them all my life.
Moon was a shit drummer, Daltrey is just a cunt without charm.
They fail to deliver beyond the intros

  • *ding alert* Roger's daughter, Willow, was one of the singers in my big soul band, she's brilliant... Roger is also the one that I struggle with in that band... I love the Stones and hate Mick Jagger, go figure!

Have another listen to Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere or Can't Explain, beautiful noisy pop masterpieces... Savvy, art pop, brilliant...

  • Eminence front is a bit of a tune and Tommy's a decent single

  • You sure you 're not thinking of the rolling stones?

  • I'm being majorly triggered here.

Also, just had to check that the song "fiddle about" wasn't some weird fever-dream or repressed abuse memory. Nope, it's real. In the context of Pete "back of a spoon face" Townshends's internet history that alone is enough to have wanting to pour bleach in my ears.

    Hateful

  • Huh.

I actually really like the early stuff too. I'm almost able to disassociate it from the later bilge... but not quite.

Daltry featured as a co-presenter on an old ep of TOTP that was subject of a recent Chart Music pod. He was every bit as bland, artless, humourless, charmless, sexist, homophobic and generally repugnant as i expected.

  • I love the Stones too man. I reckon Jagger's frontman antics have actually massively detracted from him getting the kudos he deserves a singer, writer and lyricist. I genuinely reckon he's massively underrated as an artist. Plus he was one of the most beautiful humans ever created.

Someone posts link to Dancing in the Street silent video in 3, 2, 1....

  • But another rather unpleasant human being, swings and roundabouts, innit? Take yer mate who wrote Black Dog, another well dodgy bloke... They're everywhere you look!!

  • On a different note - I have always been a fan of the Beasties - when all of my friends were disappointed in Paul's Boutique, I was blown away by it. Even their shift in sound over the years was one I could appreciate, and they were proper musicians in their own right. They were all in early hardcore bands on the NYC scene in the early 80s which is how they all met.

I was lucky enough to do a phone interview with Ad-Rock as part of their press junket for the Ill Communication release. He was difficult to interview and completely lived up to their reputation as interview nightmares. Monosyllabic responses, no elaboration, no interaction, just a wall. My 20 y.o. interview skills were nowhere near enough to work with that. I had a 10 minute slot and I ran out of questions and answers after 2 minutes. He was very happy to do an ID for my station and even happier to repeat it when I fucked up the call letters for the station. I apologised and said "Yeah, sorry, I'm a big fan and nervous. Thanks very much for doing that again. I'll let you get on to your next call." He finally cracked into human form and said "Not a problem. Thanks for being a fan and supporting us." and hung up.

  • Totally. Gross. I’m not much of a Zep Fan either TBH. They have their moments, and it’s fun to learn the odd tune but yep, totally agree they had some problematic “of their time” behaviours. To put it mildly.

I reckon Plant is good egg but I’m not a fan of his screeching on about hobbits.

  • One of my mum's mate's was engaged to a who, I think Pete, but she dumped him, guessing that was before they got big.

  • before she got big as well i suspect...

    too soon?

  • I think it was the non nonce, maybe Roger Who.

  • I’ve never got Prince. Just don’t think his music is very good beyond a couple of okay songs and his voice is forgettable.

He’s certainly not the genius he’s held up to be.

  • Oh Jesus this thread....

    The Who are fucking brilliant

An amazing run of perfect pop singles through the mid Sixties. Toured themselves into the best live band on the planet late Sixties early Seventies

    Man..... SMH

  • Quite frankly, I've never 'got' what everybody else in their terribly bad taste holds up to be 'great'. /thread ends

  • Morrisey, not the smiths!

  • can i just say i think bad pitt's got a smarmy fucking kite

  • I've never got kites. Look like great calm relaxing fun.
    Are they fuck.

  • Also.
English breakfasts/bacon for breakfast. Fuck that.

  • I've also never really understood cider.

  • And, further controversial points:
Some of the aphex twin stuff is shit.
