  • Hmm, looks like the STi 6 speed can’t be reversed, only the WRX 6 speed.

  • If anybody wants a cheap runabout with a lot of life left in it, I’m selling my 2004 Ford Ka ‘Luxury’ (black full leather, air con), 1.3 Duratec, only 30k on clock. MOT until Oct. ULEZ compliant. £400. Located near Hertford.

  • Brilliant little cars and so much more progressively designed compared to the rest of the stuff being made when it came out.

  • My Audi 80 gifted me the pleasure of snapping 2 of its catalytic converters bolts on Friday. About two hours before I was due to drive it to Cheltenham for the weekend.

And as additional gift it started spewing oil from the area where the engine joins the gearbox.

Luckily the internet has provided me with the info I need to presume this will be a very expensive problem to solve 👍🏼

  • @Jaaamie might be interested in that Ford Ka for sale @Olly398

  • Cheers for the heads up! Picked up a Jazz the other week. Probably wouldn't have chosen the jazz as a model to go for were it not for seeing your original ad!

  • E90: After the rear calliper being replaced (which was seized) plus pads on both the rear I thought this DTC warning light was gone.

450 miles journey from Scotland yesterday triggered all the faults! DTC warning, Tyre Pressure Monitor Failure and ABS.

I deactivated the DSC system which meant I could drive. Other than a random tyre pressure loss warning which I reset I made it down through the night to Dorset.

Hoping to get it into a garage tomorrow so I can get back to Glasgow. Also hoping it’s just a wheel speed sensor and not something speedy!

    Cars...

  • If I want to buy a car without tariffs from the 1st of January what's stopping me from ordering it from a Northern Ireland dealer, who being in the EU customs territory get it tariff free, and then driving it home? UK-Gov say they're not going to make any checks or charges on goods coming in from NI, so I'd have saved myself 10% (or whatever it ends up as, 6% I think plus some embuggerance adjustment).

  • Given that HMG is headed by a habitual liar, who has changed his story on NI-GB customs many times, what makes you think it will still be tariff-free come Jan 1?

  • That's a point, but whilst they've had to admit that there will be checks on the de-facto trade border in the Irish Sea, they've stuck to "no tariffs" on NI>GB. I'm really just wondering whether it's as simple as I assume, and will therefore become the standard route to buy an expensive car.

  • Audi 80

Ah. A proper Audi shape. Always liked those.

    Rear main seal fail?

  • I went to see this in person last week: https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1996-bmw-e34-540i-touring

First time I’ve considered anything on Collecting Cars and it was an interesting test. Definitely not as nice as is it looks in the pics. Few spots of rust, bonnets been repainted pretty poorly, jacking points pretty corroded. None of which is mentioned in the description. The car is owned by the son of the owner of the dealer who is selling it which is the same garage which has MOTd the vehicle for the last two years (with no advisories). It intrigued me enough to call collecting cars and ask how the cars are assessed. The short answer is - they’re not. The seller provides all the photos and answers a template questionnaire on history, condition etc which is used by a third party copywriter to draft the descriptions we read on the website. The seller signs an agreement to say that description is ‘an accurate reflection of the vehicle’. Think it means particularly for older and higher mileage I’d almost always want to go and see them in person. For newer/lower mileage perhaps not.

  • Feel my bitter jealousy radiating through the ether. If you could harness it you'd be able to power your household electrics without troubling the grid.

  • Ahhh love it. My dad had a blue DS and an ID way back before I was born. By the time I came along we just had a VW microbus...

One day I'd love to get one, or an SM, but something tells me it'll probably never happen.

  • Well, 400 miles in the bag and it's been pretty damn reliable apart from losing a door trim on the motorway and an intermittent temp sensor. I'll raise the coil overs a little before making the trip home to Scotland next week.

Cant stop looking at this car.
