I asked about this the other day. No service if you refuse to remove your mask.
Thats the Tesco policy anyway

Pretty much 100% face covering compliance in Brixton Tesco yesterday. Popped into Nisa on the hill for some beers last night and only had a large hanky/bandana in my pocket so put that on. Was the only person of around 10 in there wearing any kind of covering and people looked at me like I’d rocked up to rob the place.

What colour is your hanky?

This is sad about care homes in Victoria, seemingly replicating some of what has happened over here:

Spain off the safe travel list .
14 day stay at home when you return but who is going to take notice of that. -
• #15187
And Grant Shapps - the transport secretary - has just gone on hoilday there.
Absolutely bound to get caught out and about within two weeks of returning.

No summer strada races for those italians that have raced In romania this week . 14 day quarantine by order of the ministry

It was a campsite and it was Wiltshire and the 100s of hippies partying there are to blame, not us clean-living cycling types.

I was surprised to read that there are currently 600k people from the UK on holiday in Spain. There is no way they would be able to check on all the people returning even if the wanted to.
-
• #15193
Probably like going to the pub yesterday and they will just leave a clip board and pen at arrivals

I can't get my head around how many of these people seem suprised and affronted by the quarantine. Surely the possibility of this would be obvious if you're planning to go away to somewhere that has rising cases?
I mean, we're hoping to get away for a ten day mountaineering trip next week (subject to passing a covid test on Friday). We will barely see another person while there so the travel itself is the greatest risk. When deciding whether to risk a holiday or not, these are the things we decided to plan for. We would not be going if we didn't have a contingency plan for these scenarios.
a) Travel to Austria, contract Covid, quarantine in Austria according to local rules.
b) Travel to Austria, pandemic spikes, be forced to lock down in Austria.
c) Travel to Austria, pandemic spikes, UK gov make us quarantine on returnAs two youngish people (in context of Covid) with no underlying health issues, these seem to be reasonable things to plan for. Did these 600k people really just fuck off abroad with no "what ifs" crossing their mind?

be forced to lock down in Austria.
Sounds awful
Did these 600k people really just fuck off abroad with no "what ifs" crossing their mind?
Probably, yes!

It was a little amusing in Valencia on Saturday as the news broke - we were in a part of town that has a lot of tourists and you could see the news break in the bar we were in. I got asked 3 or 4 times by other Brits if it affected me.
I won't lie, given the people and media here are livid and pointing to the fact that a number of the outbreaks are likely the fault of tourists, I was smug as fuck.

telling that the only people whose opinions were solicited on R4 this morning happened to be "Travel Industry Experts".

I have some time for people being annoyed with this, because there is inconsistency in the quarantine countries rules (in most countries btw, lots of complaining in NI atm) and there is such a lack of oversight for quarantine/masks, I can understand the impulse of "I am going on holiday, it's a small risk I will take it".
Not going on a plane myself btw, and will holiday in rainy NI. Just...not so sure this has all been handled/communicated well.
Especially not with theaters CLOSED but a lot of push to get people out and holiday again. So the whole thing feels like a bit of a mess, again.
Somebody I know is visiting family in Portugal, two weeks of quarantine coming back... no way they can enforce it, they will just be good cos they understand the seriousness of the virus.
How has this post been here for 8 hours without snots taking it as a huge come on?
Presume the DMs are getting spicy AF.
