Government advice to retail is to not enforce the mask law, no challenging of mask-less customers.
-
• #15155
to be fair it's not up to business to enforce laws - they can stop people from entering tho, right?
looking forward to the inevitable "Karens Gone Wild - UK Edition" portrait vids

I understand some supermarkets will refuse service if you are wearing your pajamas, some restaurants require gentleman are wearing a tie etc. Seems a bit useless to now be unable to require a face covering is worn although I suppose they don't want to get into arguments about who has an exemption.

Got served in Lidl this morning without one (completely forgot it kicked in today), but I stuck out like a sore thumb as I went around. Won't forget again.

Solid work by the Government publishing the guidelines last night, seems to be their new thing of publishing guidance hours before it kicks in

Oh, that must be why I keep getting turned away. Ta.

Is that just because Cummings insists on doing everything himself?

Shops and restaurants have a right to refuse service to anyone as long as it's not discriminatory. I think the govt just doesn't want people calling the police over Karen who refuses to wear one because it's not actually law.

I don't know if there's anything to this, but if true it sounds hopeful:

They can, but won’t if they’re following gov guidelines.

Big shop today was great, everyone masked, little shop at around 9pm for some cans was another matter entirely. Easy to forget at this stage ofc though.

Little shop this evening. 2 customers in the shop, 50% of whom were wearing a mask. I was. The other person was wearing a nurse's uniform. I'm assuming because she was a nurse, rather than for sexy fun times.

Beer shop at Tesco was busier than usual, some not masked, one person walking round holding a jumper kinda near her face, a bloke wasn't paying attention and briefly mistook me for his wife.

Figures. Mind you, the only physical contact I've had in the last four months with another living creature larger and more sentient than a fly is when my youngest niece head-butted me in the knackers in an unapproved not-socially-distant high-speed hug, so maybe I should make the time...
Anyone keeping an eye on the infection and death data?
7 day average for infection was decreasing but has stalled over the last few days.
