Yeah that’s my only issue, the price. It’s like £300 extra for a steel case and bracelet that looks worse-finished than a £100 Seiko.
But then, it’s a shiny full metal G-shock, ie awesome.

Im not disagreeing with you on the looks, but I've got got Seikos that cost a lot more than £100 that aren't even in the same league as this thing in terms of comfort and practicality.

Only the bluetooth connection is really going to drain it, and once the watch it set up how you like you'll find you never enter the settings app again unless you're travelling as then setting the 2nd timezone is easier than using the watch buttons.
I think I might just turn off Bluetooth and use the Multi6 time reception instead.

If you're not connecting, it's not using battery :)
-
• #46006
I thought the watch connected to Bluetooth four times per day to sync time settings?
-
• #46007
Does it?! Not that I know.
Oh yes! Time Adjustment... it's been doing this 4 times per day and I never knew and it still hasn't affected the battery.
Well. Clearly it's not an issue :D

Well that's good enough for me, I'll leave it as it is!

Tell you what isn't good... what kind of time format is 2020/07/04/12:30 ! That's not ISO

That is shit.
Just tried the phone finder. Useful!

• #46011
Is there an option to switch to epoch time? :p
-
• #46012
Quality! Really growing on me lately this!

• #46013
This is why I like it so much! Every time I see it, I think work beater and this for pretty much every other occasion.

Welcome to the brotherhood of that square gshock :-)

• #46015
I made my g shock look cheaper last night and secretly like it.
Just wanted something nice and light that I didn't give a toss about for riding and stuff.

Hey All, I’ve inherited (a good few years ago) a Rolex Air King Oyster Perpetual. It was well worn by my late dad on the daily, and could do with a proper service and repair. I originally took it to Rolex in St James for a quote on service/replacement of parts, came back as 700 odd quid, which is either reasonable or a ‘Rolex’ quote. Was wondering if anyone on here would suggest an alternative servicing company and wether they would offer a similar level of service for less money. Or should I just stick with Rolex and accept that my dad should have just taken better care of his watch! Cheers

Robert Reeve is my go-to for vintage Rolex.
http://www.robertreeves.co.uk/
He has serviced my Air King 5700 before, and has done my Dad's 1988 5700 too. He has also done some bracelet and case repairs for me before. Might be a waiting list, but will be cheaper than Rolex and he will do a cracking job.

How did you do this?
-
• #46019
Spent 18 quid on eBay for a bezel and strap.
Which surprisingly came with 3 spring bars. 6 new bezel screws. And tools. -

Nice, one, will give them a shout. Thanks!
-
• #46021
Got a link for that one?

• #46022
Clear plastic is lighter, fact.
-
• #46023
Might be more buoyant tho.

• #46024
Whoa! Does anyone do a more modern/actually available style similar to this these days? Whoever designed that GS went on to a career in architecture for sure.

Tell a lie. Was a few quid more.
Battery + solar... you're not going to even have to think about it.
I never consciously try to put mine in sunlight, and when I do check the battery level it's always pretty full so it clearly works. Only the bluetooth connection is really going to drain it, and once the watch it set up how you like you'll find you never enter the settings app again unless you're travelling as then setting the 2nd timezone is easier than using the watch buttons.
