The 6186-8000 with the tall indices is pretty unique and IMHO the pinnacle of the ‘Grammer of Design’ Seiko ethos of the era.
Modern GS is probably the closest equivalent in terms of sharp lined cases and dial furniture however vintage Lordmatic/King Seiko/King Quartz/Grand Quartz are great sub £200-300 buys which share a lot of the Grammer characteristics.
These are probably the two best GS resource websites https://thegrandseikoguy.com/
https://www.plus9time.comAnd this article about Grand Quartz has sent me down quite a rabbit hole of late nights scouring Yahoo Japan...

There's quite a lot of nice stuff on sale ATM; Burrels and Beaverbrooks have a good selection too.
It's really triggering my shitty magpie instinct.
Problem with the Tudor stuff is that they can't post it to you, so it's only relevant if the model you want is in a store accessible to you.

they can ship them between stores - guy I know is taking a look at a black bay steel (£1850!) and EJ are shipping it to his local store
-
• #46031
Yeah I know but what a ball ache though. They don't tell you on-line which stores have stock. So you need to ask them which store has it, phone that store, persuade them ship it to another store, wait, they'll never call you back, chase them... And then you have to actually go to the store to get it. Fine in normal times I guess, a bit wild right now.

Heaven forbid getting it fitted!
Here's an idea.
Combine the 2. :o)

black bay steel
That sounds like a steel (sic)

doesnt seem that much for over a £1K savings really...

I dunno, if I want to drop £1,800 on a bangle I kind of want it to feel good. Lots wrong with that process.
If you really, really wanted one fill ya boots. But then you'd have one already. And the sale stuff tends to be stuff that people didn't really buy, for whatever reason. Black Bay Chrono anyone?

• #46036
Obviously you must want it...
But surely if you have any inclination, you say, please ship in, i am interested. Stop by, check out. And possibly, if its right, save a thousand small ones.

I did kind of want a BB58 but then I ordered a Seiko on Friday and it arrived on Saturday. Job done, no mucking around.

That sound incredibly inaccessible, even in “normal” time.

Anyone had any experience with Oris watches? Big fan of the Aquis range.

I plan to get a linen dial LM at some point, really enjoy them

I have the Big Crown Pointer Date (currently for sale). Good quality, case finishing and dial looks perfect. Movement feels very smooth, nice pop when unscrewing the crown. Keeps time well within the specs.

I have a Pilot Big Crown GMT and an Oris 65. Like them a lot. Great watches, not super-spendy.

I love those tall sharp indices

The Heritage Ranger looks like quite a good deal, and I always thought they were cool.
But then it's the sort of watch that looks like it will look cheap when not in lifestyle blog wristshots.

Meh, looks like a Timex, except the Timex is < £100.

I think they look pretty cool on natos

Sooner rather than later as the prices for excellent condition vintage Seiko are creeping up.
@leggy_blonde Agree, the whole sharp edges style was so different from anything coming from the Swiss at that time, I love it. I don’t expect everyone to lust after the faceted glass and textured dials too but there’s some cool shit if you dig deep enough.
