Pernod, Vodka, blackcurrant and lemonade = jelly bean.
Pernod and blackcurrant on its own was a beverage of my youth (until one night necking them in the local police station staff bar)

I can't find pics of mine but basically vodka, choc liq, ice, shake tae fuck, pour and I dust it with cocoa or drinking chocolate, whatever we have in the cupboard at the time.

I think I saw that in a gin cocktail list somewhere but don't remember trying it. Damn we don't have any lime cordial, we're on the Vimto at the moment.

White Russian, but made with (white) rum.
Terrible idea or an established beverage?

65% of Americans like a salted rim, compared to 67% who prefer a glass with no salt.
Maths after a tequila, I guess. -

Yo @hippy three recessions ago I worked in bar when I got made redundant from architecture. we all got paid a pittance, basically student wages and shit meals during our shifts. a few of us used to steal stock bring back to mine for Sunday pancakes laced with whatever liquor we could get our hands on, followed by a very boozy lunch.
I was credited for the invention of the cherry bomb in 1990 which accompanied our tex/mex/creole/surf/turf menu
Basically a bite sized Bloody Mary.. as a starter..
cherry tomatoes were pretty new back then in the food stores, I injected them using a syringe with vodka and tabasco sauce, followed up with a celery stick dipped in salt. You had to eat those cherries within the hour, otherwise they all went a bit Pete Tong..

I’ve probably told this story like a hundred times..

You had me at
I injected them using a syringe
I went through a massive Bloody Mary phase during the first lockdown. Couldn't get enough of the stuff. It was like the pistachio craze from the year before. Maybe it was an antidote to all the beer I was drinking, maybe I just need way more salt (hard to believe but possible) or maybe it's easier to justify alcoholism if you make fancy drinks with veggies in them ;)

I mean, I'd drink it, but vermouths and the like have never been at the top of my playlist. Some of the herbal stuff works, but probably not enough to justify me buying a bottle over something I know I'm going to drink.
I did get some Santa Teresa 1796 rum the other week but that's mostly gone now and the closest it got to a cocktail was me adding ice and drinking it next to a beer. (what's a rum boilermaker? roilermaker, boilermakerum)

what's a rum boilermaker? roilermaker, boilermakerum
I’ve no idea what any of those are, I’ll ask my GF, I know that she will say ‘if it ain’t Mount Gay XO, I’m not interested’ being the patriot of her heritage.
And reckon mixing rum with anything else is considered heathen, in Barbados or Colombia at least. One ice cube at most in a Collins glass

Boilermaker is just lager w/ a whisky. It's not a cocktail. It's just something to get pished quicker. You can dump the whisky in the lager but I tend to have nice beer and nice whisky so that doesn't happen.
The rum in question is Venezuelan:
https://www.masterofmalt.com/rum/santa-teresa/santa-teresa-1796-rum/Your missus might insist nothing be mixed but back home you need the coke added..

If I've had Mount Gay before it'll only have been in a bar and I have no recollection of it. But I might seek it out when we replace this bottle. I think my favourites are the El Dorado and Ron Zacapa 23 solera. But I haven't done side by side tasting of rums to really pick faves. Should do a drinks by the dram.

What's going on top? Did you sprinkle chocolate on it or something?
-
• #198
We have tried different things on top, this weekend.
- freshly grated nutmeg
- cocoa powder
- fresh lime peel twist
Once poured from the blender, it takes about 5 minutes to separate in the coup glass
Also coup glasses go in the freezer for 20 minutes beforehand

I prefer mine with nothing (other than coffee beans for appearance sake) but one Christmas one of my group found Terry's Choc Orange grated on top to be nice. I disagreed but it's not my drink.
Blender not shaker?

Blended out of laziness, until I get a coffee grinder and I own whole coffee beans, it’ll be a weird world of toppings
Any Roses cordial? Could do Gimlets.
