My MacBook won’t start at all, tried usual boot technics. I think the problem might be this (picture) - does anyone have a MacBook Air power cable they can sell me? Pref north london?
I think I've got one. Putney based though.

Day 5 of new iPad Pro, developed a backlight high spot. Back it goes, sigh.
What does this look like?

have you tried a software scan like CleanMyMac X ?

Localised blue glow, like when you press the screen too hard. Not awful but not acceptable pricey new toy.

Next on the list. Currently I've rebooted in safe mode and I'm reinstalling the OS. It's been doing this since 6pm with the fans on full.

I actually pay for it, it's so good.
My 2012 rMBP is still going strong although I'm glad I coughed up for the 16GB RAM back then.

I've a 15" 2009 MBP still running daily for Netflix. Maxed out RAM and SSD work really well.

Photos has been deleting my images without me doing anything. It started with whole albums from 2015, replacing the pictures with blank files. When I export them to the desktop, they are still blank. I've tried going into 'show package contents' and they no longer exist there.
I'm running High Sierra 10.13.6 on a 2014 ish macbook pro. Here's an image of the wierd shit that's going on. I have the images saved elsewhere but it's creepy and frustrating. Please help!

I bought my daughter a used iPad for Xmas. Now it won't charge, it's been a bit temperamental previously but I can't get it to work with any of the previous tricks. Is it now just an expensive thin brick or is it worth taking it somewhere when we are out of lockdown?
-
• #15464
Assuming by previous tricks you mean you've tried a different charger, different cable, plugging into a computer USB socket, holding down both the power and the home button and the same time (normally after 10-15 seconds it would force a restart if it has any charge) and trying to charge again...
If none of those work, then I can’t think of any more tricks, however, it would be worth taking it to an Apple shop when that becomes an option. Even for things out of warranty they have been pretty helpful in my experience. I was once quoted £80 for an iPad battery replacement, although they said that because they can’t actually replace the battery, they would give me a replacement refurbished version of the one I had taken in. That was for a 4ish year old device.
Hope you can get it sorted.

Have you checked for compacted fluff in the charging port that is stopping the charger from going far enough in for the terminals to meet?

• #15466
Oh that’s a great call - forgot that top technical tip from my list!

That’s the top tip

Thanks all, I have tried all these things including the lint in the charger port, to no effect.
-
• #15469
IME it’s always a duff cable or lint. Worth trying an insulated paper clip, compressed air, a lens blower, a toothpick etc in succession. You could also try powering it down and using contact cleaner on the port terminals.

I've found when a battery goes completely flat in an iDevice, a decent genuine Apple cable is sometimes required to wake it up.
Also check the Lightning plug contacts for black gunk, especially the centre (power) contacts. The best way I've found to get rid is scraping a coin sideways over it like a scratchcard.

Question for the forum,
I have Apple Music on a MacBook Pro and an iMac in the kitchen (all logged into the same account and authorised). I have a B&O A9 in the front room, all are on the same 5ghz WiFi network, the iMac in the kitchen is connected via a Sky booster. I can connect to the A9 via the MacBook but not the iMac, it’s showing as a speaker but will not connect in settings or airplay in Music. Any ideas why ?

The memory and CPU in those are soldered. The SSD is replaceable, but it's a non-standard Apple module. There are third party adapters to fit standard NVME modules, but results can be mixed (instability, problems waking from sleep, etc).

So leave it as is?
Fine with me!
