  • Who's having the most fun though?

  • That definitely applies over here. I can have hours of fun with the same TB3 pattern while playing with a knob or two (ooh nurse).

  • I rarely get past 8 steps.

  • ... chuck in some 5 or 7 step modulation and fuck tonne of knob and slider faffery and off we gooooo!!!!

  • I need all 16 for THE GABBER speeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed

  • Haven’t posted in here before but here’s my current isolation setup. Managed to get my hands on one of the last future sounds gristleizer... it sounds amazing!

  • This is so me! Need some help to enable more loop making:

I finally got the b**ringer 8 channel preamp. For some reason I can only get 4 channels out of it... weirdly only channels 5-8.

Linked up with ADAT in/out and set to slave. Sample rate 44.1 across everything. What am I missing/doing wrong?

(edit) Sorted - had the main interface setup to use s/pdif which is why I was still only getting 4ch @ 44.1. Now to have fun routing some cables

  • I've been messing around with sequencers today, was hoping to get a Moroder-ish rhythm track happening so I could put some epic ambient guitar noise all over it...

Wound up wasting three hours on delays on three interlocking bass lines, didn't actually get anything new down... Easily done!

  • I was definitely “third place guy” last night.

Can’t wait to get the ADSR module in place, the reprogrammed Aira solution is a bit iffy. Oscillators and filter sounding good though.

  • ...still waiting for the kick drum...

  • That's lovely... I get stuck in a rut where I'm so concentrated on making a solid A part that I overwork it and leave myself with nowhere to go... Need to be a bit more freeform with my workflow...

  • still waiting for the kick drum

Ha, that was pretty much my first test that everything was working. Had the Eventide Space on the mixer fx send so cranked that of course. Can’t wait to get the other modules so I can integrate it more easily.

Thanks btw. I think figuring out a workflow that works for you is half the battle. My problem is I often end up making things too melodic. A lot of techno and suchlike doesn’t really go anywhere, it just modulates. I have to stop myself from making chord progressions.

  • First sleep deprived effort since having a baby.

  • Really good! 👏

  • Nice 👍

A friend reminded me of a track we made in about 2012 so I’ve dug it out and uploaded.

  • Love the groove and the lead has a nice level of squelch.

  • Got this track on the go, started with Blackbox, all stems run through the Tascam portastudio for saturation. Just don't know where to go with it. Maybe needs another element/hook

  • Moog Minitaur for the lead IIRC (and an MS20 for the bass, in a role reversal).

What's making the metal noises 2:17 onwards?

  • Too fast?

Never normally say that but immediately seems that electro breakbeat could be slower and opened up more. Maybe fuck with the snare a bit. Add a background sample - everyone loves a quirky space vocal :)

  • This is banging. You could add a spacey pad thing but from my point of view all it really needs is the hats to drive it more. Bit more sizzle maybe. Think the open hat on the offbeat is a bit too techno for it as well. Maybe check how Jensen Interceptor does that high tempo driving electro thing, he uses hats on the 16ths (ie every step on an xox sequencer) and it makes it really energetic.

  • Cheers both. The hats are weak for sure. It does have a moody spacey pad, just muted for this mix. Can't decide if to include or not.

16th hats good idea, ta. And vox too!

  • Pretty much everything apart from the bass is Ableton's Wavetable. I use it on everything, probably my favourite synth.
