I’m going to visit that place when this is all over.

Sounding good to me! I like the dubby vibe. The delay and reverb on these little boxes is quality.

It would be a nice place to be quarantined.

I marked it on Google Maps, you know for those random times you just happen to find yourself in Switzerland looking for something to do.

Cheers mate yeah I'm really happy with the model:samples. Now coming to mixdown though and really wish this could send 6 channels over USB instead of just a stereo out...

That’s how they get you to upgrade to the Digitakt...

Love this guy's hacking. Not sure if it should be in here or the PC Tech thread :)

I need to actually start recording some stuff/sampling my synths so going to buy an external SSD and work out how to use Ableton file management properly.
What read/write speed do I need as a minimum?

Any MPC users here? I dug my MPC1000 out since being furloughed and have been loving it.

ME! 😍
Bit fanatical here... 1x 2000, 3x 2000xl, 2x 5000, and an mpcX... I did have a 3000 too but I stupidly sold it. 😭 -

Just with quick listen on crappy speakers as you've asked for opinion. Snare is way too upfront. Needs to be a part of the same world as the rest of the perc. IMO :)

Thanks mate, will bear that in mind when I come to mix/arrange properly.

Love it. I’d try... the voice sample at 2:2 (or maybe a high chance probability) - I’m not sure it’s not too predictable, too early in the track. The lofi comp(?) over everything - try dialing it back a bit (the earlier version you posted already had a nice quality).

Enjoying reading the collaborative constructive criticism on arrangements and mixes although I have to admit I find it a totally alien, as someone who records acoustic instruments. Interesting nonetheless.
Had nice surprise yesterday, my next door neighbour (retired live sound engineer) gifted me a nice little Spirit Folio desk. Nothing fancy but i'll give it a go in front of by Apogee Duet to record some acoustic guitar later.

Thanks very much! And yeah good comment on the vocal sample—it's definitely too repetitive. The lofi sound is probably just my shit master, I'll try and get it a bit cleaner.

Right, hope this is a good place to ask -
My Mrs is a pretty handy musician, but just getting into recording / producing with her new band. With lockdown, she thought it time to get her Mac upgraded so she could use Logic Pro X to collaborate with her bandmates, and churn some lockdown tracks out.
Anyway, she had an old macbook, which while it ran fine, the osx was too old for logic. Cue upgrade, she picked the MacBook Air (against my reccomendation) as she has a dodgy back and wanted something light for carting about once we're out of all this...
Any way, turns out it's glitchy in logic playback. Works with the buffer turned up to max, but seems three days in, she's already pushing the skinny thing to its limits. Its a project with maybe 6 tracks within it, at least one beefy piano plug in.
And so my question - is the Air just too weak for this kinda stuff? Would upgrading to the Pro with the base i7 processor 128gb hd get us moving along a little easier? We're within the 14 day exchange period so should be realtivly easy. She'll be sad the new one is heavier and not gold though...

Something seems wrong there, you can do quite a lot with just an old iPad...
Are these recorded tracks or virtual instruments? I suppose it's possible that if you're using a very large sample library (or a few of them) you'd get issues but it's unlikely with an SSD.
Is all the software kosher? Is she using an external interface or the mac internal soundcard?Which air is it? Internet suggests 8GB RAM is the real minimum for logic, with 16GB recommended.

The Air actually isn’t too bad processor-wise for Logic but the key factor is RAM. You need all you can get.

Unless you’re running max quality instances of Diva or something, in which case good luck. We’re all counting on you.

I'm running Logic 10.3 that I got off the internet on my 2008 stuck on El Capitan Macbook Pro, works fine.
picked up a model:samples the other day and have just come the closest i've been to finishing a tune in years. the arrangement is shit as it was all done on the fly but would appreciate any thoughts!
