That shit eating grin she gives as she delivers the latest death figures.

  • @hats - is there some national need to coddle the traditionalist medicne woowoo folk in China?

  • Who has their own DBS details though?

    I do

  • Even this current government is self aware enough that letting her do a briefing could bury them, right?

  • Two interesting bits (to me) from US briefing yesterday: Fauci saying that a lot of the top medical experts from diff countries have had group calls to talk over findings. Think he also suggested that US aim was to eventually get cases down to zero/small level with their current approach then contact trace to control small outbreaks. Different endgame perhaps to UK? Trump also advocating scarves.

  • Different endgame perhaps to UK?

"Analysis: 'UK Government sees antibody test as exit strategy'"

    10:01 update on https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-52130552

Doesn't explain what they do on the way to that, or what they do with people who don't have the required immunity.

  • Fair point actually, without the audience they do get an easier ride, breakfast interviews much be far worse, didn’t see anyone this morning.

  • Trad Chinese medicine is widely pushed by the govt as it's much cheaper than real medicine (or as they like to call it, western medicine). Lots of state funding and propaganda etc. I've seen tons of articles claiming that TCM cured coronavirus cases - never mind that it's probably "cured" the people with mild cases who simply needed to rest in bed for a week. I imagine a relative of someone high up owns a big TCM factory.

  • Yeah, I guess those two US points were somewhat related in my mind. i.e: the level of coordinated strategy worldwide and the best 'exit' in a few months. Will US and UK persue different course or eventually shift to the 'hammer and dance' because it means less death in the short term regardless if you don't even get close to herd immunity.

  • Why the rush? Speed normally = terrible form. Unless you're doing crossfit, then terrible form is some kind of requirement.

  • Good motivation! I’m doing 5 sets of 20 today as feeling pretty sore from yesterday.

  • Its approx. 1 second per pushup/situp/squat, with rapid move between pushup position, situp position and squat position between sets.
5 minutes of activity without rest, gets the heart rate up.

1 second per pushup/squat seems ok to me?

Also I'm short, so completing pushups, crunches and squats take a fraction less time than most!

  • 1 second per pushup/squat seems ok to me?

Gonna have to jump on the 'sounds too quick and will likely lead to rushing reps + crap form' bandwagon here.

  • I've never knowingly done a burpy, 100 can't be that hard right? I do need to find things to do now.

  • They're surprisingly hard to do after the first few, at least if you do them properly.

  • One every 10 seconds for 100 isn’t too bad, I only decided on that strategy yesterday as my fitter twin did them in 19 mins so I wanted to beat his time, he did them in sets of as many as possible if that makes sense.

  • Oh man! Having a fitter twin must suck! That's like having your body image issues coming for sunday lunch and ratting you out to your mum.

  • I got most of last week's work challenge done, except the burpees.

    This week:

    Lunges (each leg) 350
    Wall sit - 14min
    Tricep Dips 350
Take part in a live workout class 3x
    Crunches 350
    Stretch - 14min
    Mountain Climbers (each leg) 350
    Cook something new (one time)
    Read something new (3hrs)

    I'm way behind.

  • Wait - Hippy, what rep blocks are you doing those 350 lunges in? Not 350 in one go?

  • 350 would suggest 50 a day if it is a weekly challenge. Easy to then split those 50 up into suitable sets/reps.

  • Ooooooo

    So do go into detail!

    For @jimm sake

  • Seems too quick to me. I'm no PT though, I'm just a boy, standing in front of a boy, telling him to slow down...

  • That’s you.

You’re stood in front of a mirror.

  • @hippy

    Thank God for that!
