I'm self isolating with my parents and realsising things are going to get pretty boring pretty quickly.
Would a Lunchbox be a good starter kit? They've a reasobale sized garden with a field behind that I could hopefully raz it around...

Lunchbox is cool yeah. Drives like a dog - but a funny dog

Shells, paint then cut or cut then paint?
-
• #1006
I've always cut then paint, just for fear of damaging the paint. Felt tip round the cut lines, makes it a bit easier.

Here's a video of one with a silly motor. You get the idea!

Lol, back in the day I put my 17-turn double motor and ESC in a Hornet/Grasshopper chassis. No ball races or uprated anything. What I remember was the hilarious acceleration and top speed and the fact that it was almost impossible to get it round the bend at the end of the long straight at Crystal Palace without rolling over!

I had the super sport RZ, so stuck that in the wee fellas lunchbox.. ball raced too.. as you said, doesn't handle too well.. but at least it wheelies!!

I used to hack my battery packs and make a 9.6v pack that would spin a 540 like crazy!! Never burnt one out

Is all about loading. Cars even 4wd will usually break traction if torque too great.
Boats on other hand are trying to run a screw through water.
Mine overheat in about 5 minutes even with cooling.

Either.
I’ve always painted then cut, but as long as the over spray film stays in place it’s all good

The plastic on that can be really tough on the screws, starting the holes off with a tap might help
-
• #1018
Yes! I've learned a great deal about the intricacies of thread making. I've even been using the correct taps for the blind holes...

nice!

Nice to see that the wee fella decided he was gonna build the slipper clutch, obviously thought it too much of a challenge for dad.

This thread needs more build pics to soothe me in these troubled times.
Currently resisting the temptation for fall down the rabbit hole myself. -

I'll post some more. Trying to stretch the Avante and Durga out for a bit. Avante needs some more sticker application and a longer steering rod - weird servo geo has meant the stock rod is irritatingly to short.
If anyone has a spare turnbuckle kicking around...

I’m wondering if I order one, will it still be delivered....
Most likely, yes. At least right now. Get one quick! If you want to pay a bit more for more peace of mind, get one from an eBay seller.

I set him a challenge. How do we get this double slipper hop up mod in there, son?
Put the red bits on and added some driver stickers.
Red bits might come off again
