All it's gotta do is make noise. It's still doing that. Happy days!

Hey, I'm after getting my old Quad 303 amp and stereo, and a turntable serviced. Any good suggestions around Hackney please? Cheers.

Wilton Music Mall on Wilton Way will organise / do it for you, though I just emailed him and he’s stuck in Australia. Might still be able to organise it though.

Obvs it’ll require a two week testing period round my house after it’s refurbed.

hahahaha.... maybe.
Wait the music hall do repairs? I was recommended to go to https://audiogold.co.uk/ just wondering if there was anyone closer. Looks like they have a fair amount of quads on their shelves.

Badly chosen business name but nice guy - Wilton Music Mall
From what I understand though, Audio Gold certainly know their way around old British hifi.

Mall
Lol yes that's a terrible name choice 😂
Thanks for the heads up. That's pretty close to me, guess it depends on when he can come back... fun times...

He said autumn... though it does say on his site he'll introduce you to repair people if he can't do it.

I need to set up some kind of media server for my Yamaha RX-V777 and the native app is shit and they've bricked the internet radio bit. Will be used for playing locally stored music and video, BBC radio, WFMU and some podcasts
What are my options beyond Plex?
I have a Raspberry Pi going unused and portable hard drive.

Also two questions for the hive mind:
Has anyone used two Chromecast audio to get multi room streaming and how easy / effective is it?
For that second room, acoustics are bad (it's a glass sided box) so something properly audiophile would be a bit of a waste - that said, any views on what class D / T amp or other cheap + small amp I could get? Considering the topping tp60 vs amphony 200 but would consider other options; needs to be smaller than a typical hifi unit though

I can answer point 1. The answer is yes! We have chromecast audios in 6 different rooms (in fact they are all in one place, with speaker wire running to speakers in different rooms. Works flawlessly for me, no lags between rooms at all. We also have google home hub, google home and multiple google home minis, oh and a lenovo smart alarm, and they pretty much all work together with minimal issues.

Cool, thanks! Just wanted to hear it works and wouldn't be wasted money buying a second one (not least as I don't know what returns policies might be trickier if I have to source one from eBay etc)
-
• #7571
Yep works fine, I think if there is a lag between rooms then there is a way of manually adjusting if needed.

Those speakers really are beasts aren't they?!
Look amazing - all analog seems appropriate anyway...

Ta! I get somewhat lost in all the different smsl amp choices - is there much difference?
Your hifi choices are Possibly second only to your clothing choices in terms of poor decisions
