  • Yeah I was thinking about just using two shallow pieces of unistrut mounted on the back board to achieve a similar thing.. without hindering room for pockets / lock

  • Had this with the lowest tier dt Swiss rims (£40/45 price point), put a 650b 2.5" ish tyre to 50 psi and the rim erd shrinks so much that it becomes like a wet noodle. Also had it with one of their Gravel rims (again the lowest tier). Don't Reccomend the lowest ones anymore. Tension dropped from 55 wot nots down to around 35. Whereas a mavic rim of same price was only dropping to 50 at the same pressure (same hub/spoke/nipple combo)

  • That’s mad!

  • If £40/45 uk rrp per rim is your budget, mavic /ryde etc make more dependable rims. Certainly easier to build! Their top tier alloy runs (£80/115 rrp) are a joy to build, very quick to get round /true /equal tension

  • We’re using the Ryde Andra 40, as they come as stock on the Urban arrow. Been finding that almost without fail they crack around the rim, directly under the rim tape after about 4/6 months. This is on wheels they’ve built and wheels we’ve built. Not sure why it’s happening. Spoke to UK distributor for Ryde and they reckon the rims are receiving some abuse at Urban Arrow side 🤷‍♂️.

Anyway we’ve been trying out Halo SAS rims on a colleagues recommendation. Much rounder and easier to build up than the Andra.

No idea if they are an improvement strength wise yet.. time will tell..

got any other recommendations for a decent heavyweight 26” rim? Heavier / stronger the better

  • We do not see this issue!

Andra 30/40 builds on the weekly here. Thousands sold.

  • Yeah, SJS swear by them for the heavy duty Thorn builds

  • any chance I can take it for a spin? I already have a bullitt (in same colour but unassisted)

  • We literally find so many like that..

The rim is deffo strong as it’s never totally failed. But when we see them cracked we rebuild. Pita

Haven’t heard of this happening to anyone else

  • Alex Supra 30 comes in 26 and 20" (406), its what Bullitt use, you might see a bit of corrosion around the rim join (dump something like ACF50 into it when building it, and then once a year) but not seen any crack before, couriers tend to end them with collisions rather than fatigue. Not that heavy either.

  • sure. i'm in e5

  • Any chance of some pointers on how you went about modifying your child seat bracket to fit it on your Mini Maxi. Its a job I've had on the back burner for a bit, and seeing as I'm going to be working from home for the foreseeable future I might finally get it done.

I've got an angle grinder which doesn't get used much, if that helps ?

  • Yea for sure. Its essentially just making the square hole round at the one end. I used an anglegrinder too.

However.. if you're planning on using a yepp maxi chair on it, be aware that the results arent that great. First off it needs to be the model that clamps onto a rear rack for example. I believe its called NEXT. The shorter wheelbase position of the front wheel requires you to mount the seat very close to the handlebars in order for the wheel to clear the foot shields when turning. This means that kiddos head is dangerously close to a turning handlebar, and the cables being within reach for curious little fingers. The steerer bar makes contact with the seat’s foot shield too..

Ive just used my Yepp Bracket to provide a solid base for the buggy i haul my son around in :)

  • Just tried to turn right from a main road into a B road and the pedals just spun round as a van was speeding towards me. I had to jump off and pushed it. Lucky the load wasn't too heavy, or on a hill. In the side road I tried several times and the pedals either spun free or the gearing just slipped with a clonk, then spun. Eventually got it goin by turning power off then on. Don't feel confident enough to risk using it now.
It's going in for a first service on Monday. I'll be interested to hear what their oppinion is. Not looking forward to the 10 mile ride to the shop - if I don't have to stop I should be ok

  • What bike/ motor / drive?

  • I had to jump off and pushed it. Lucky the load wasn't too heavy, or on a hill

Have you got walk assist enabled? Good for situations where you have may have to push a heavy load up a hill.

Re. the drive issue- i’d be investigating the Nuvinci hub first.. don’t trust them one iota 😆. Though turning it off and on to fix sounds like the motor may have an issue.. let us know what they say after the service!

  • Ouch. Hope you get it sorted.

  • Urban Arrow XL, Bosch Performance CX, Nuvinci/Enviolo

  • Just about to say the same. Nuvinci hub would be my call for the issue without seeing anything

  • This is fat Lizzy

  • That rear rack really looks a bit under-engineered.

    : ]

  • so good, this is what I aspire to be

  • What are the pegs for?
They don't have a metal inner sleeve do they?

  • who makes this speaker? is it any good?
