  • Passengers feet, no they don't

  • UE boom, had it for a while.. it's good.

  • Yeah, its just the cheapest disc brake rack I could find. Easy to beef up when it eventually breaks

  • Rode in with a jbl extreme 2 this morning, sound quality is great

  • Anyone know where I could get Yuba accessories? I'm keen to get some monkey bars and a breadbaset for my Mundo v3 but I can't see anywhere advertising them.

  • I've bought stuff from yubaeurope.com without any problems

  • So I wanted £450, had shed-loads of interest on ebay but nothing firm. Suggested I’d take £400 for it, still nothing leading to a new owner.

I’ll consider offers now, I’d like this gone.

As per previous FS ad, the seatpost thing, and since sitting a while the gear shift cable needs tension sorted to get smooth shifts back as it’s gone a bit rough.

    Collection from Swindon SN5, 5 mins from M4 J16.

  • Wow, looks great. Love the stunt-pegs too

  • Re my Nuvinci hub. I'm also pretty sure that is causing all the problems. Trouble is, if it can't be sorted out & remain reliable, I can see I'll be shelling out for a new wheel/hub-gears to replace something that has a two year manufacturers warranty (18 months left)

  • First time failure? Go back to supplier. If it fails again in short succession then claim not fit for purpose.

Or get it sorted under warranty then flog it.

  • New rear wheel laced.

  • Some nuvinci fail quite quickly (go slack and then box full of neutrals), others soldier on for years. Not exactly sure what kills them, alfine 11 are almost as bad. A8 (newer ones) are solid enough so long as you don't shift under load, nexus 5 better again, but can still be broken with abuse.

  • and Rohloff? Are they £800 better?

  • I’m thinking about getting a Rohloff, and am wondering the same question? Is the speedhub £600-£1000 better than a di2 alfine 8spd?

  • my main concern is reliability. for the first 4 months I had no technical issues. Lately I've been glad to still have my old diesel van.
Tried just going up & down my (flat) road.... How long is it going to take to get the 10 miles from Southgate to Camden, potentially walking it up hills?

  • my main concern is reliability

I have had only good experiences with rohloff. Have never used any of the shimano offerings so can’t comment on them.

    Pros:

Max - min gear ratio is great for cargo bikes
    Smooth reliable shifting
Cables changed with ease (when necessary)
    Not a delicate mechanism
Can adjust gears while stationary (utilising the whole range, unlike Nuvinci)
    Oil change is straightforward
Rolling resistance is minimal (big difference compared to Nuvinci, easier to pedal up to speed and maintain it)
Fairly easy to get spare parts
Shifter is reliable (Nuvinci is liable to get mangled up)
Indexing not reliant on cable tension
Reliable for many miles/extended periods of use.. not prone to sudden failure rendering the bike unrideable.

    Cons:
    Expensive
    Proprietary spokes
    Can’t think of anything else.

  • Rohloff warranty it for mid drive use though? AFAIK they don't, only regular bike use.

  • Hm maybe, need to check as have had stuff warrantied in the past. Could they of changed their policy? Maybe @R.hobbs knows

what is your experience and thoughts regarding reliability on the shimano ig hubs?

  • Nicolai were using rohloff hubs built into the middle of their full suss frames for years, so they must be happy enough with them being used in a non standard situation.

  • Anyone taken a cargo bike on a train? It's probably the time to try it now, if ever.

  • I have seen it on the gram; not tried myself yet

  • Not a chance on my line usually. SW Trains probably wouldn’t have a problem with it, but it’s too unpredictable whether there will be space.

  • I echo all of this.

Servicing in done in house at sjs unless you muller it then it goes to Germany. 2/3 weeks.

I have no concerns about them, they are brilliant. And a brilliant company to deal with, any questions answered quickly and nothing ignored or avoided.

If I had more cash I would have one on both our surly truckers no second thoughts.

Compared to Shimano, we sell 10% Shimano and 90% Rohloff. Not seen any Shimano hubs back, but probably not selling enough to offer a good insight.

Rohloff oil change done, only then have issues if you submerge it or set it on fire ....

  • Also, can sell you a sweet orange Rohloff hub if you buy a Brompton rear frame.

  • So far so good on East Midlands.
