I had something like this in mind, with in a bit of a wiggle at the start to go up through Langley and then Jenkins Chapel/The Street/Axe Edge/back route to Earl Sterndale.
I'd offer up the broken road out of Hope for a bit of fun (the foolhardy can dodge cars and sheep up Winnats), but you can't really go wrong with Mam Tor.
There's a nice detour off Sheffield Road that I'll need to dig out, I can't remember where it pops out but I think I might be able to take it out towards Bollington and get Blaze Hill in somehow...
Possibly both a little harsh fixed?

This looks like a pretty perfect amalgamation of the best bits of last years ride with some new bits for those who'll be coming up for the second time. Hope is perfectly positioned for a pub lunch stop where @youramericanlover can shoot off to do a climb of Winnats and decent of the broken road whilst food is cooked...
Sorry to hear about the weirdos.

Jenkins Chapel climb is hard on 34x28. I think it touches 18%.
There are loads of pleasant ways out through a Macc Forest but hard to avoid nasty ramps.

You know if I am feeling ok-ish on the day I might try this

I like that this one takes in the goyt valley climb, a real highlight for me, quiet, one way and picturesque

get Blaze Hill in somehow...
Is it okay to suggest this and then not come and ride it?
-
• #233
Probably not. There's a slim chance I'll be in Macc that weekend/have a bike/have a low enough gear to drag myself round at a very leisurely pace without suffering a heart attack or similar, but at the moment it seems unlikely.

Closed to traffic at the moment too so completely traffic free. I walk the dogs there most days.

I rode the first half of the untaggable %~)'s route today. Nice steady climb out of Macclesfield to warm the legs up followed by some pretty sharp ups and downs. There's a general store and a couple of tea rooms at Longnor 25km in should anyone need to refuel. The B6049 between Tideswell and Bradwell is fast, busy and not particularly interesting so I suggest we go up through Hucklow and Abney to Hathersage where there is a good deli.
Also note that some of the roads are quite narrow so we will have to be fairly disciplined when riding as a group.

Picked a nice day for it. Was the Abney road okay? That was my preference but mapmyride didn’t fancy it because of the closure.
-
• #237
I've yet to find a 'road closed' sign that I couldn't get past by bike. (Excluding flooding)
-
• #238
I didn't go that way in the end as I had an appointment to keep in Sheffield. I'll most likely be up that way again before the real thing so will check it out.

The Abney closure is in effect until May next year. To get by it will require climbing and lifting bikes over about 8ft of Herris fencing. When I looked at it last November there was still a thin strip of road there, but I'd not be surprised if the repair works will entail taking this down and rebuilding from scratch.

If you wanted to go to Hathersage, Tideswell/Gt Hucklow/Bretton (highest pub in Derbyshire)/Sir William Hill (going down that on fixed will be an experience!)/Leam would be an option.
To do Tideswell to Bradwell missing out the B6049, you could take the minor road just to the west via Little Hucklow. Pretty sure I rode it with the local OAP/CTC group once upon a time.

• #248
I'm sure we've all been getting out getting loads of nice climbing miles in in this lovely weather over the last month or so. This should be a doddle.

• #249
What are you reading my mind :'(

I'm intending to attend a spin class tomorrow, such is the desperation
I came that way before Christmas. It's passable but requires some 'scrambling'.
