Po’s Rolling Projects

Currently making it's way across the pond to me is a mid-late 90s Waterford 1200. It's lugged 753 with stainless Henry James dropouts and Reynolds Ouzo forks. Apparently it's the 'R' version (for race I'm guessing) as opposed to the RS (endurance) so it should be a bit livelier than my Mercian Audax.

Build will most likely be Ultegra 6800. Wheels and finishing kit are TBC. I don’t get on with compact drops so I need to do some experimenting with different Nitto bars.

Continuing the made in the USA theme is a CAAD5 track in team Lampre-Caffita livery.

That beauty was on ebay recently, wasnt it?

Was about to buy it but unfortunately (or, moneywise, fortunately) it was slightly too big

753! Good find, not many frames made of that around because it was incredibly difficult to work with.

Thanks, so I’ve read. I’m looking forward to seeing how it rides - apparently Waterford used to recommend 753 over 853 unless a very strong frame was required.

The Waterford has arrived. I'll try and get some pics in daylight but suffice to say that it is very nice. The serial number identifies it as the 84th frame built in January, 1995.

First job is to source a 27.4mm seatpost. The seller kindly included 2, neither of which are long enough.

Brakes + cranks arrived for the Cannondale thanks to @Eamesy & @c4shr

Just waiting on a bottom bracket and chainring bolts to get it rolling.

Phil Wood ISO bolt-on/Open Pro rear, road wheel on the front. I’ve been on the lookout for a low flange Phil front hub for yonks but they never seem to come up.

Tentatively offering the Cannondale up for sale as I don't think it's going to work for me...

If its a 1200, I think it's pre 95 and it's a race bike.

I think you're right about it being a race bike. If I've read the serial number correctly then it was built in January 1995.

It’s a 54. Can measure up if needs be.

@e54 it’s just not getting used. I’ve got two bikes that cover 95% of the riding I do.

Sticker says 54 but the headtube looks fairly long (more like a 58) or is that just due to the camera angle ?

I'll double check measurements this evening but the TT is definitely 54cm.
