  • I want those to be my legacy to the world.

  • This is really excellent to read.

  • Amazing! Hats off to you guys!

  • If you don't buy it a mate of mine might be interested. Any idea why it's so cheap?

  • It’s over 100k miles and it’s modified- both are seen as negatives, the miles especially so.

    Also a C4 is less desirable than a C2.

I’d be pulling the front drive components, modifying it extensively and replacing the engine- so I don’t have the concerns of a normal buyer. It’s still cheap though, but with Brexit the market for these cars is sinking.

  • Put this way, it's all making a lot of sense.
There's probably a few guys down here in the aus Porsche club that would be interested in the outcome. Crate motors? Although good luck finding a 996 for less than 100k down here... Edit... 40k...
I know my mate (has a 500hp 944) uses Buchanan auto for all his engineering, but as far as I know they specialise in the turbo variety of Porsche, and mostly 944, 968 etc .

  • Crate motors would definitely be part of the plan, likely with an exchange option- Hartech does that already, so it’d simply be a new option for customers.

I called in to see that C4, unfortunately the sales chap wasn’t there. It looks better in the photographs than it does in person, but again I don’t mind about that.

  • Drove the C4 - Colm, I'd strongly advise your mate not to buy this unless he really wants a project.

  • Ha. Found the reason why it costs peanuts?

  • It's very much a 10 footer, the closer you get the more issues jump out.

If I were to run it as a road car then there's an easy 15 grand that would go pretty much immediately.

However, I'm still thinking about it as a track car, as I'd have to tear it to bits anyway.

  • I came across these amazing 70's wheels today. I'd never heard of it, a Iso Rivolta Lele from the last year of its production, 1974. Styled by Bertone and powered by a 5.7l Ford V8.

While looking up that I discovered Giotto Bizzarrini, who worked for Ferrari on their legendary 250 GTO. He left Ferrari to work for Iso, before splitting with them and setting up his own outfit, and went on to make this, the amazing looking Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada. The interior and exterior are stunning: https://silodrome.com/bizzarrini-5300-gt/
At the end of that is a link to a cool short film about Luciano Rupolo who has some exotic cars, including a Iso Grifo, a stunning Ferrari 250 GTE, and for Porsche fans also tells the tale of his discovery, rebuild and eventual sale of Porsche #004 .

  • Never heard of it either. That colour looks amazing!

  • that is very special. excellent spot. I have heard of Iso and remember having toy Grifo as a kid. but never heard of that Rivolta Lele. Really beautiful. good stuff dude - you spot some amazing wheels

  • Cheers @jonny, yes I absolutely love that, as did everyone that walked passed it.

Also note the excellent anagram number plate. I thought it was exactly the same plate as in an old Top Gear on classic British sports cars, where Clarkson was driving an old Jenson Healey, it was close but not quite:)

  • The more I drive the C55 the more I like it, such a good car.

  • I believe that's what you'd call a "lifestyle" vehicle. Just need someone in the shot pointing yonder.

  • It can’t be a lifestyle vehicle- the bike is covered in mud.

  • That is lovely... Was watching the final SuperGramps episode of MCM today and I think I am coming round to the idea of getting an estate as our next car after all... The AWD on a Subaru ticks another box too...

  • You don't really do things by half, do you?!

Now we have all this info GT3 clearly makes no sense.

  • Beautiful. 70s car really do it for me, especially Bertone styled ones. The pop up half covers over the headlights are fun, they make it look like it has eyebrows and is feeling sleepy.

I can't find a picture of them popped up anywhere but I imagine it looks surprised!

  • Sure it's worth about 5% of anything discussed in the last 10 pages. But this, combined with living 5 minutes away from a bunch of mountain roads, so much damn fun.
