That Carlton!!!
The crazy thing is that it is probably worth three or four times what it was worth when it was parked up.

That's a powerful front end.

One of the factory xenons on my e91 died last night. New bulb is 70 quid. Best to replace in pairs for colour match.
Drivers side one could be replaced via a flap in the wheel arch, but due to the airbox being in the way, the passenger side arch liner had to come out.
Hope I don't need to do that again for a while!

Just call it a "Mod". ;)
Surely your car is under warranty still. Buyer protection or summat. -
• #51033
I'd be fine in that parking space...

😂😂😂

It was a private sale, so no warranty or protection :(

Previous Youtube shows recommendations from here based on shows I alreadt watched such as project Binky, Murray MK1 by retropower were quite good (homebuiltbyjeff, soupclassicmotoring, etc.).
Wondered if anyone had good cars podcast to recommend? Came across Collecting Cars podcast and quite like it, any similar recommendation?

The shape is similar to the barchetta alfas, but the split and further back passenger/co pilot seat doesn't match the more common barchetta traits.

Ah the place is Palace motors on Park Road crouch end. The have some interesting cars parked up outside, the corsair, there is a nice older saab and jaguar xj growing moss. The car sales has some interesting bits the mercs and the mustang at the moment. They were selling a mint low mileage mk2 golf gti.
Think the owners/workers run a 60s morgan, BMW 8 series coupe and other interesting older cars.

Well all that means is that the car has a straight 6 and 3l ;) You have a better memory than me ;)
Is that the photo from pininterest that calls it a disco volante, as there only small number of cars that are Disco Volante. Were you here when the Design Museum had the disco volante in the entrance?
EDIT - Still interested to know who made the body, and what the car is, as it is no discovolante.

I considered buying this several years ago when i was looking for a G -the rear seats look so good like that but it will have zero boot space

That GTV is stunning , my dad had two one after the other a 2litre and then a 2.5 v6.
They are what turned me onto Italian cars and particularly Alfa Romeo. ( currently on my 7th and this is one a keeper) -

Always wanted an early alfetta gtv V6...
The 2l were great handling cars, just have to be a bit gentle with the gearbox and not slam the gears. Always used to get shouted at when driving with my Dad at night, that I was going too fast, and taking too long to change gears.

I would love an alfetta gtv 2 litre but they have all dissolved by now.
I did have 2 Alfa Sud Sprints which look a bit like a "junior " version .
And I have a "modern" 916 GTV . -
• #51049
Mine were dissolving when purchased ;) All MOT failures and required serious stripping before welding so I wouldn't set fire to the interior. The joy of removing older patches that had rusted through!!! The joy of people either brazing patches on or not seam welding patches, and not cutting out the old rot.

This caught my eye:
https://rpmtechnik.co.uk/sales/vehicle/mk1-996-gt3/
Which is, obviously, both very yellow and moderately expensive.
I thought I'd take a look at what it would cost (financed) to put it on the drive.
I could put £10,000 in and then HSBC would lend me £50,000.
The monthly repayment would be £978.37, and overall the cost of the money would be £8,702.
I'm fairly confident that (if Brexit doesn't kill us all) the car would be worth a similar amount to today in five years, so it's the cost of the finance, insurance and maintenance to find.
Moving away from HSBC I looked at a specialist car finance place - they offer a product that combines a monthly payment with a balloon.
The same 10k down gives a monthly payment of £500, with a final balloon of £35,384. This means the total paid is £30,000 in monthlies (60*500) plus the deposit plus balloon= £75,384.
The cost of lowering the monthlies by £479 is ~£6,682.
I have an ISA that I put £500 a month in, and then empty periodically when it's useful - for e.g. I just took the money out of it to buy my girlfriends birthday present this month.
I could therefore move that £500 to paying for the GT3 and not notice it month to month although I would notice it at birthdays and Christmas.
Idle speculation to an extent, but keen to hear what you chaps would do.
