As for 'disappearing'... I've had the same phone number for over 20 years, the same email address since starting BRP, and I've always been completely open about wherever I'm living... So I'm not exactly difficult to track down if this posse of private messagers who haven't messaged me at all over the last 8 or 9 years since I left London need to find me.

To clarify, the accusations were that you failed to provide products after taking money and took a number of years to issue refunds.
-
• #254
All that same accusation?
Well as I said... Feel free to point anyone who has a problem in my direction rather than yours. -
• #255
the numerous PM's I have received
Uh huh. Sure sure.
-
• #256
And details of a since deleted thread detailing these accusations.
Don't really see the value of further posts, so I'll endeavour to make this my last, but you have failed to answer the central question of this argument. Why do you feel entitled to ask for people's money without providing anything in return? What differentiates you from those people using Gofundme to pay for a holiday or more generally utilising crowdfunding for personal gain?
-
• #257
Anyone who has read my gofundme, and this thread will have seen that I have already admitted to the fuck ups I have made in the past. And the whole point to this is to not make the same mistakes again. I haven't had a single message in almost a decade asking where anything is that I 'owe' anyone, be it goods, or money. The only bag I had to make was for eXtra, because she was kind enough to loan me her bag, which I then replaced with a better version. I did this by paying train fares back to Leicester on numerous occasions, just to have access to my sewing machines, because I wasn't living there anymore.
I really can't do anything about mistakes I made almost a decade ago except try to not repeat them this time around... Which is exactly what I'm trying to do. -
• #258
There's only one person arguing.
And why is anyone beholden to explain anything to you?
-
• #259
What differentiates you from those people using Gofundme to pay for a holiday or more generally utilising crowdfunding for personal gain?
Yeah there's exactly zero difference between restarting a legendary bag company and going on holiday. Big brain at work here folks

It's not just me he's explaining it for, it's all those reading the thread and considering donating, I'm merely facilitating the discussion.
One last go;
@Black_Rainbow_Project why do you deserve people's no strings attached cash?
-

My intervention ... more specifically sought to ascertain whether it was ethical for Scott to request people's money without any thought of repayment...
Discussion following your post has ascertained (at least how I read it) that 'the forum' absolutely does consider it ethical. Yet you insist upon flogging this dead horse of an argument that it is not.
For your own sake, come to the realisation that you are at least in the minority, very possibly alone, in thinking that what Scott is doing is unethical.
You are welcome to your opinions of the people who use things like GoFundMe to raise money and of the people who choose to donate to things on these platforms, but unless you were of the opinion that Scott's cause was actively harming anyone/anything or that he was deceiving people into giving him money I can't see why you would derail his thread like this.
Actually, I can see one more reason... that you are jealous of the support that has been sent his way.
If you are trying to argue that Scott putting himself out there as a possible recipient of people's money means that less will be donated to 'recognised charities' ie Mind, I don't think that kind of logic is even worth arguing against.
TLDR, you've told us all your opinion, nobody cares.

I missed the posts where all those other people asked for an explanation?
-
• #263
Lots of people saying “nobody asked for your opinion” whilst giving their opinion.
Let’s all knock it off now. It’s not a good look everyone calling someone a cunt
-
• #264
Jesus fuck, he's asked for it, and been up front as to what it's for, so it doesn't even matter why he deserves it, the people giving it can make that justification for themselves and have done. What fucking answer are you going to be happy with? "I'm a wonderful person", "Your cashes belong to me"?
-
• #265
Right I think we've reached a consensus;
Nothing uniquely qualifies him to ask for free money, although it is fine to donate. He shouldn't have asked for money without endeavouring to offer anything in return. For one it's an unsustainable funding model, that's only got him to 25% of his target in 6 months. I might be the only person sticking my head above the parapet, but the totals don't lie.
-
• #266
Where's this consensus coming from you fetid cumfart of hysteria?
-
• #267
I want to compel him to grow up and run a proper business with the exchange of goods for cash. It's admirable endeavour that I would have supported with purchases had he pursued it differently. I'm not knocking him for trying, just injecting some cold hard realism.
-
• #268
Honestly I could go away happy if one person would concede that I have made something approaching a valid point. The hysteria ain't coming for here.
-
• #269
Except you could buy a hoodie or t-shirt in support, if that’s what you preferred.
You seem intent on trying to argue a case that just doesn’t exist. People have a right to choose how they spend their money.

I fear you may have to settle for just 'going away'
-

You're saying your going to fuck off if someone agrees with you at the same time as trying to claim your views represent s consensus?
Tempting as it is to give you what you want just to shut you up, I'm going to resist that and again suggest that you just recognise you're shitting in the communal soup.
-
• #272
Obviously I am aware that I'm shitting in the communal soup, I don't expect to win the argument but all the same am not going to be cowed by people calling me a cunt from behind a screen.
@GoatandTricycle as previously stated people can spend their money however they want. It's just cheeky of him to ask without offering anything in return and unfortunately he ain't gonna reach his total in that way.
-
• #273
Ok thanx bai!
Just donated..
-
• #274
Again you missed the point, which invalidates your argument. For those who felt uncomfortable like yourself you could buy a t shirt or hoodie.
I’d imagine some did both whilst others were happy with one of the options. -
• #275
Were you born a giant patronising bellend or did you study it at university?
As I have said MANY times already... People simply 'assumed' that I hadn't already done my business plan, sought advice from those in the know, and in your case 'explored conventional funding methods'... All of which I had already done long before embarking on a gofundme.
People chose to make assumptions, based on either my past attempts, or their personal opinions. That doesn't make their assumptions correct.
With regards to the private messages you have received... As far as I am aware I have paid everything I owe. I have even over the course of my 'career' given people their bags completely free if they had to wait too long. I have refunded money on the occasions where I couldn't deliver for some reason.
If anyone feels I still owe them something, perhaps they would be better messaging me?
There are a few people on this forum who don't like me, who I have clashed with over certain subjects etc... So I wouldn't just believe everything you read in a private message.
I don't see my own private messages filled with demands of recompense.
BRP stopped selling goods years ago, and I haven't had anyone messaging me to say I owe them anything. So feel free to point them towards my own private messages if they feel I do, and I'll be happy to deal with it.
But for now, I think I've defended, and explained myself enough on this thread.
