Were they the only people who made what you were looking for? Why not buy from a long standing reputable boot maker?
-
• #6553
Just had a call from Mr PlanetX himself, and new boots and some socks are in the post.

Can't fault that for customer service.
long standing reputable boot maker
William Lennon are? A bit agricultural, admittedly, but they've got the pedigree...

• #6555
Lol it’s just a loose thread mate. I hope you do something with them it would be a terrible waste to bin them.
-
• #6556
Ah, didn't realise they were made by someone else.
-
• #6557
Yes, apparently Hebtreco adds value by tighter quality control.

Hebtreco
Really liking their Moto boot.
although probably because it's a fashion version of a set of bike boots I already own. Now thinking if I can get a set of those laces for them.

Did you shout at him?
-
• #6561
No, because they have acknowledged the problems, offered a solution and been gracious about the whole thing. Rather than repeatedly fuck up, inconvenience me and make me pick up the tab for their errors.
Good service is not just about delivering on the day to day bits, but about service recovery when things go wrong. So very very different.
And it’s joyous knowing I have you following me around from thread to thread. Your life is clearly so fulfilled.

• #6567
@dancing james did you get to keep the first pair?
-
• #6568
They have been returned to be repaired and sold on as a second.

What are some of the shoe brands I should look out for in TK Max?
-
• #6570
Usual suspects: Trickers, Loake, Barker often turn up. Occasional Cheaneys, Church's. Seen a couple of pairs of Redwings recently snapped up by other people.

Just had an interesting conversation with Yuki Matsuda, the head of Yuketen at a Yuketen popup here in New York. He thinks it's unlikely they'll be able to make shoes how they do currently in five years time as everyone making shoes by hand, particularly moccasins, in the U.S. is so old.l and nobody is interested in learning the trade. Sad. Very sad.
In happier news, I got these beautiful, slipper like comfort Angler Moc's. The Cortina sole is just wonderful. They gave me some freebies for being a return Monitaly/Yuketen customer which is nice too. Such a nice company to deal with.

I need some advice... If you had a budget of £200 +/-for some Oxfords/Derbys, what would you buy?
-
• #6574
Something second hand or perhaps TK Maxx (check upthread). Look for the usual quality brands (as stolen from above) Trickers, Loake, Barker, Cheaneys, Church's
-

Should be able to get new Loakes for that budget, and possibly Barker's if you find something in the sale.
Rather disappointed the hebtroco boots arrived 6 weeks late and stitching has started to come undone. Have emailed them and waiting for a response.
