  • Might do a proper write up later on when I can think straight.

  • Do it now while you can't!

    Well done!
    Solid

  • the tracker needs a 'comparison to Birkenshaw' feature. i would like to know if he is up or down on the time.

  • wow! great effort.

  • @Arducius - How...what....how on earth did you do that? Fuck me, epic!

  • I am so broken. Just fell asleep in the bath when I only wanted to soak the legs a bit. Have to go down stairs on my bum and I look like a ninety year old crone going up! Walking is more of a shuffle. Running is definitely off the cards.

  • Going down the stairs backwards ftw

  • This sounds awesome.

  • Yeah Goat Fell was the first climb, then round on the ridges to some of the other summits before heading back down to Brodick - the last 5km on the flat was probably the worst bit of the race!

  • Putting the ‘Ard in Ardicus! That’s some serious graft, an absolute whopper of a performance. Well done mate.

  • Woah! That’s very impressive, well done.

  • Defo! Apparently he's down on schedule but up on SB.

  • I hit my target of 100 miles

    Amazing - well done!

  • Thanks everyone!

Haven't had the time or mental energy to write anything down yet. Keep remembering snippets but it's hard to get things into the right order.

Legs feeling a lot better today but going to have at least this week off running completely. The tiredness from missing a night of sleep has actually been ok after I went to bed at 8pm Sunday evening, then a normal bed time yesterday I now feel fine mentally.

The ballot is open for next year already so I thought I might as well see if I can better 110 miles in 24:20 :)

  • How...what....how on earth did you do that?

I really don't know. I spent last year working on my endurance and did a few ultras (longest of 12hr) but xmas to April I have been on a Hanson's marathon training plan, then after London Marathon I sort of fell off the training wagon, got the flu (no running), had a holiday (no running) and then it was race day. I think maybe the extra rest after LM meant I had the reserves to just keep plugging away... maybe?

  • Hi guys. I'm looking to get back into running after MANY years off. Anybody recommend these couch to 5k things, just to kick start everything?

  • Absolutely. My partner started there, and very recently ran two half marathons in two weeks. It's a great gentle introduction which kinda forces you into the disciplined progression, helping prevent injury.
It might be a bit too gentle for you, I dunno, but then you can maybe do more sessions a week? Either way I think it's worth a shot.

  • Brilliant. Thank you!

Seems like a good way to get back into a routine and give my knees a chance to get used to things again. And a huge well done to your partner, amazing stuff.

  • London Landmarks Half Marathon ballot entry open today.

(You get to see some nice things unlike the Big Half that I did last year.)

Meanwhile first proper run today since early May. Got to get back into the routine.

  • After a couple of runs since this first run in two weeks, I'd like to challenge this statement.

  • I've started swimming more and considering a new watch, ideally will play music, be good for swimming and running. Whats the best options? :)

  • The expensive ones
    Garmin 945

Swimming means 945 instead of 645
Music means 945 instead of 935 or 735

  • Fenix 5 plus works as well, plus the Uber expensive ones (MARQ)

  • Garmin 945 it is then.

    Not cheap 😣
