I bought this watch on eBay to butcher as a donor watch for the Omega that Alsal are restoring for me.

Lovely looking thing, shame to kill it.

But when I cracked the case, it has a £10 non Omega movement in it. This project is getting silly annoying now.

Speaking of Helson's, any recommendations for NATOs with brass hardware?

I've got this on it at the moment which I like but the silver clashes a bit.

I've got a semi for a g-shock

The full metal G-Shocks are dope. They actually had to add extra protection to the movement because the metal case doesn’t absorb shock as well as the normal plastic ones do.

Its a very reliable movement even if it isn't the right one. Just having a chat with the ebay seller about whether to send it back to him for full refund or get a hefty discount. I don't really need it but its an awesome watch.

The 10k gold plating and dial hands are near perfect.

In the meantime, if anybody comes across an Omega cal 1375 movement, or watch containing one, I'd be grateful for the heads up.

The Aliens looking hardware (or hardware from aliens the movie) does it for me. Metal Patina hmmmmmm.

Cheers, I did look at them but the extra €25 for a bronze buckle on top of what isn't that cheap a strap anyway put me off.

Yeah, don’t blame you, they are definitely not cheap, but as nato style straps go they’re the best I’ve tried.

What width?

I just realised I have a 31trum strap I've never used.

22mm (although I could possibly be interested for other watches if it's 20mm).

I've got a spare 20mm starp that I don't use

Tried this on at lunch out of long-standing curiosity. So many questions.

The actual dial and hands are pretty nice, as is the finishing. If they put it in the smaller round vintage case it might be fine but as it is, it makes no sense. And the starp is a joke.

I saw one of these in a pic sans wrist. I did wonder how it would look, now I know. Thanks there must be some reason for it looking so mad.
Any prepared to speculate?

Its made for people who think they need a giant looking watch. People like @ChainBreaker

It's not the big watch problem... It's the puny wrists problem.

It’s true, I do have puny wrists.

Essentially I think it’s just what happens when Bell & Ross, a brand who are all about tool watch aesthetics, try to make an actual tool watch. You get bling case polishing, an impractical strap and unnecessary dimensions spoiling the formula.

Sometimes they properly nail a watch - like the v2-92/93/chrono vintage range - but you suspect it’s almost by happy accident.

They have an increasingly established sideline in obnoxious/rich/young/euro man-jewellery watches and I think it’s just that natural bias coming through.

I love the V2-93 GMT but I think it can wait until after I scratch the Rolex itch.
