I was picking them out of the Velcro on my jacket and had to clean my visor half way when I rode 200 miles 3 weeks ago.
Not to disagree that there is a problem. Thanks for the link -

Yesterday I drove a 200 mile round trip in a car and not one single bug got splatted on it. Not one.
The field I was camped in this weekend was v.busy with flies. I see v.few splatted now after car journeys though, agreed.

Anyone know what plans, if any, ER have in relation to the European Elections?
Made this last night. Bad pic, but, laser cut super reflective material.

it seems to have gone a bit quiet since they announced they would be standing in some areas. Not XR - Climate Emergency Independents - I'd like to understand more about their intentions and tactics for that. It seems there's the risk of splitting both the remain and the green vote.

Most groups are currently recharging and regenerating. My local group has a few plans being talked about, and there is a meeting in Reading next Tuesday, at the Warehouse, Cumberland road. If you can pop along and bring that with you you would be very warmly welcomed.
We have had a banner making session last night, and we have some tree climbers in the group. Expect to see banners in trees in the near future.
We are also engaging in some dialogue with our local council. They have declared a climate emergency and are releasing their climate change strategy in June. We may be asking for a citizens assembly to help deliver it, or getting more active if it doesn't have the outcomes to tackle the problem in time (which we suspect will be the case)
Look for troops of cyclists, drummers, banner wavers and rolling road closures in the coming weeks. Or something. -

I can't make Tues but will try to come along to the next one. I've got access to a workshop for all kinds of sign/sticker/stencil making.

Although I see you are using social media disgrace that is Facebook for updates. I'm not on that.
Is there an email list you can add me to? -

It's nesting time for birds at the moment, so not the best time for clambering around in trees.

Yeah, I know. We'll only be climbing trees that don't have birds nesting in them for now.

Yeah, we mostly use WhatsApp and Slack now, (it's so difficult to share stuff without engaging with these horrible entities) but send me your email and I'll stick you on the lists!
(or email xrreading@gmail.com)
Your skills would be massively appreciated -

I felt awfully conflicted that to visit a friend in Germany, for the first time in 2 years, I must fly. It is costing less than half of the train fare and that’s by BA and carrying a bike with me too. I could have flown even cheaper without a bike and by a budget airline, but mostly it was so frustrating that the trains made it near-impossible to bring a bike with me. It was prohibitively expensive and complicated. This is just anecdotal evidence for all the above arguments over this stuff. I would sooner travel by train, or even coach, whatever was more environmentally efficient, but it just isn’t possible within my means. Frustrating.

It’s ridiculous.
I did Exeter to Edinburgh return last week by train. I can fly to Morocco (return) for less.

‘A co-author of the report, Annett Finger from Victoria University, said global production of plastic continues to increase. The amount of plastic produced since 2006 is almost half that manufactured in the past 60 years.’

^ The lack of activity on this thread is interesting. Has everybody stopped paying attention now that the action has moved to the suburbs?
So, while we are all distracted by the habits of a celebrity (I knew it was a mistake when I heard she was due to visit the boat during the rebellion) We were doing very well without her.
Meanwhile this is the scale of the problem for life other than us.
