You're after both the power meter and the cranks?
Quarqs are normally sold without rings, so you'll have to budget that in. -
• #9228
do quarq work with sub-compact rings yet? I've got some praxis 48/32 that i'd like to use.
-
• #9229
Don't think so, they have Sram Etap AXS cranks for that.

Yeah, I don't really want to take cranks off another bike so I'd be buying the whole crankset. I'm trying to work out which is the best option though. DFour is for Shimano which means good but spendy chainrings and I'm not sure they do 36T outers for 9000/9100 so we veering towards the DZero which then has a choice of Red or Quarq crankarms. No idea about either.
I would be fitting new rings before this year's races anyway so need 110 bcd 34T 36T or similar. I might run a bigger outer for RaTN coz it's flat but I have that kind of stuff kicking around anyway or it's cheap.
Like, which of these... ? I dunno. They all look the same to me, save for the DZero/DFour choice and then crankarm difference.

I look at those for P2M but I think only Praxis cranks take those rings.
-
• #9232
I need 165mm so that's that. The chainrings and BB are lesser known quantities. Probably GXP for standard BB shell and then chainrings, hmm... 4 or 5-bolt 110bcd?
-
• #9234
pretty sure you have dura ace chainrings 9000 sat under your bed....
i've used 5800 rings on mines as well

DZero which then has a choice of Red or Quarq crankarms. No idea about either.
Quarq use exactly the same Exogram crank arms on all the DZero powermeters (Quarq DFour, Quarq DZero and SRAM RED DZero).
The only differences between Quarq DZero and SRAM RED DZero are that the Quarq branded ones are for use with normal chainrings (non-hidden bolt) and the SRAM branded ones are for use with SRAM hidden bolt type chainrings.
Go here and compare them side by side https://www.quarq.com/products-compare/

36T outers
46t? Or are you really having a 2t difference between inners and outers?
If you want GXP BB, 46t outer (that rules out Shimano 4 bolt rings AFAIK) then you are left with the following options:
- hidden bolt or not hidden bolt? I'd say not hidden bolt so you're not tied into SRAM rings.
- carbon or alloy crank arms.
Then it's just a question of choosing your chainrings.
- hidden bolt or not hidden bolt? I'd say not hidden bolt so you're not tied into SRAM rings.

I looked at that Cinch thing too but came to the same conclusion. I think P2M do a MTB crankset that might work but I got sick of looking and just decided to run a bigger cassette coz it just costs a woolftooth.

I sold some of them and bought others. I have a Compact set on the Tarmac, traded the TT set for some aero testing and I may still have the normal road double set. For the ultra bike I want low gears though so at least a Compact. I could just use the rings off the Tarmac but I don't like having to make a bike unrideable to get another one going. it's not like they're gonna stop making 5-bolt 110 rings though is it?
-
• #9239
i don't like the gaps with the bigger cassettes :(
-
• #9240
i've used 5800 rings on mines as well
Can buy the whole crankset for the same price as the last rings I bought..

Neither do I. But I don't like £1000 leaving my wallet either.
-
• #9242
Yeah 46T
If you want GXP BB
No, but I don't not want it either. I don't care what the BB is so long as it fits 68mm Eng.
NHB sounds better. I want the widest range of rings to choose from, I'm not brand loyal.
carbon or alloy crank arms.
Exogram carbon crank arms vs. ? alu crank arms. Reliability, weight, price diffs?
So, I think I'm looking for this:
https://www.sigmasports.com/item/Quarq/DZero-11R-110BCD-Non-Hidden-Bolt-Road-Power-Meter-Crank-BB30/EVPUWait, that's BB30. Where's the GXP version of the NHB cranks?
This one?

£539 for the alloy, £699 for carbon, spider is the same.
-
• #9245
I know. The world is backwards.
But fucked if I'm paying north of £1000 for a Shimano PM.
-
• #9246
That's a lot of extra dosh for crabon arms.
Do they climb for me?
So these are what I want:

"Please note, this forged aluminium model does not work with BBright or BB386EVO bottom brackets. This is the non-hidden bolt edition and is therefore incompatible with SRAM chainrings."
Do I give a fuck? I don't have any of that new-age crap so I don't think so.
-
• #9248
You save about 220g for going alloy.
You can ignore the BBright/BB386EVO as you're going GXP. -
• #9249
Wait, which one is heavier?
-
• #9250
780g alu
559g carbon+£160 for -221g
I've never used them myself, and I've only met one person who had them. He was complaining about the fact they'd stopped working for no apparent reason.
