Agreed. These bikes are hugely addictive to ride, as is the upgrade frenzy.
Picking up a chpt3 v2 shortly with a few special bits to replace my OG superlight 🤩

I guess it is 3 speed with a rack but yeah that doesn’t really add up or make sense. I’ve seen full ti builds in the 6kg category

How much for the black brakes? Will they work with the old levers?
-
• #6312
Yes they will, rrp is £60 for the pair, I’d like £40 posted, and they come with reflectors ;)

he's like a crack dealing but for brompton parts
He is! Have resisted any upgrades to my Raw S2L except the bars so far, but there are a couple of things on that list that are tempting! :(

Hey Brompton peeps,
My 1992 Brompton had quite a few parts replaced over the years including the main frame, but I think the front mudguard stay is original, the older type where the hook (fitting to the rear triangle stay when folded) is still made of folded steel instead of the current plastic hook. I lined it with heat shrink sleeve to prevent scratching when folded, but the hook isn't very stiff, keeps needing re bending in place (front wheel ends up sitting too low when folded, which messes rolling the folded bike in caddie mode when shopping, I have rear rack).
Can I realistically hope that stay replacement with plastic hook will solve this, is it stronger/stiffer than the metal hook version? Can I just buy the stay on its own? Any improvement non Brompton standard or after market tweak I should consider?

Once you get discs on there you might as well get some carbon rimmed wheels too.

Sorry for a dumb naive question, £60 Ti 600mm seatposts from AliExpress, going to kill me? 85KG rider...
Got to say, the brompoton is super comfy across the city, with the damper and the fat tyres, perfect for pothole city roads.
also perfect for what I wanted. 5 miles to work, after work onto the rush hour train into the city and then 3 miles from station to destination. makes getting around so simple and efficient.
