Looks like lots of great upgrades, all the features that you'd want an new model to have.

Built in ND, 100K+ ISO... Interesting! Not used any previous Ricoh stuff so don't know how well I'd get on but will keep eyes peeled for reviews.

Anyone tried the Fuji XF10?
Specs seem similar to the Richo GR but the price about half.. -

I have the GRII, do like it and the photos I get from it, but i find the controls too complicated if in a rush so most of time I end up shooting fully auto. In too minds on if I should sell it. A great camera but I don't really enjoy using it.
Other people seem to really like it though. -

There’s a few good guides to setup the GR online, mostly focused (heh) on snap focus and shooting in Aperture Priority mode.

Quick question, heading away for a few days tomorrow and stupidly haven't got a camera bag. Turns out Ryan air have changed their bag policy so I don't really want to put my bag into the hold with the camera in.
Will I be okay boarding the plane with the camera around my neck? I have an old tamrac SLR bag that I will try and take I think too.

Wear one of those wildlife photographer vest things and stick everything in the pockets. I once flew with a guy that did it with a full frame body and three lenses (one being a 70-200) and there was basically nothing they could do about it

Yes. I have taken a camera on board before on a shoulder strap. At first someone tried to mouth off saying 'you can't bring more than one bag'. To which I turned to the side and said 'fuck off. It's a camera'. I didn't actually tell them to fuck off but I did say 'it's a camera.'

I also haven't had any problems even carrying 2 cameras around my neck/shoulder boarding Ryanair. But that was before the new baggage policy

Swoon. Proof not every hero wears a cape.

Can any one recommend some photo editing software for basic stuff like cropping, light adjustment etc? It's just for photos on my blog, so a bit of fun really, but I'm happy to spend a bit more if it means I'll get features I'm likely to use or explore as I develop as a photographer.
I'd prefer to make a one-off payment rather than a monthly subscription.
What'ya got?

I'm very much clumsy amateur rather than pro snapper, but my technical skills are yet to surpass the editing options in Google photos.

download Darktable. works very well, and is completely free. once you use that a bit and decide it is limiting you in any way, then think about spending money...
-
• #1815
Lightroom, if you are going to pay for anything, it's a bit ott to start but as you develop your skills you'll benefit from the extra features

Did it even realise this was a thing!
@ObiWomKenobi @spotter thanks for the suggestions, will have a proper look at all 3!

Have been using Affinity Photo as a photoshop replacement and really like it!
Not so much for RAW processing and archiving, where I use Capture One.Less Adobe stuff is generally better. ;)
If you are on Mac, Pixelmator is also nice.

plus one for darktable - does everything I need and I've got 1000s of pictures (although I'm not a pro by any means!).

+1 for Affinity Photo !!

I'd really like to cancel my Adobe subscription this year - I guess I use Photoshop mostly for either retouching or comping stuff together. I could keep it (as I still use After Effects a bit) but have moved almost entirely over to Resolve for video and hate paying 50 quid a month for something I'm just not using.
Will look into Affinity Photo/Darktable/Pixelmator etc. I thought Sketch was great for designy stuff, so mainly I want something with comparable tools like healing/cloning/selection etc. Anything out there fit the bill? I've used GIMP before and didn't get on with it.

Affinity Photo has some quirks but for my use a solid replacement for Photoshop. Keyboard shortcuts are also mostly the same, the UIX is a bit different but just takes getting used to.
Clone, heal, repair and general photo editing an also be done in Capture One. Which does render slightly better than Lightroom.
Added bonus is less Adobe crapware you do not need and better use of system resources.

yeah, at that price I'll get a Monochrom 246 as I already have lenses.
@CYOA
Might take punt on Ricoh GRIII as soon as its out. APSC, 28mm, tiny!
If I don't get along then Leica Q2.
