On zwift it will disable erg mode if you drop far enough away from the target and then re enable it when you get close.
Erg mode is just PID so if you drift too far from the target of course it's going to be require huge torque as your cadence is so low

I don't use swift no interest.
I'll see what tacx say to my feedback.
-
• #2329
Yeah not idea when doing an 'easy session. Guess it stops me coasting.
-
• #2330
Other thing I find is at the start of an interval I need to have already got my cadence up high or it is a big struggle to get power up
-
• #2331
Yeah so it's the same issue.
-
• #2332
Yeah get this on the flux too. Soon returns to normal. It’s like it’s gone sleep for that sec

I read somewhere that the Cyclops Hammer has some kind of velocity / deceleration measurement that stops this happening. Kickr does it. Tumbling cadence at the end of a ramp test = death
Have you considered a ramp test?

I got mixed up with the TrainerRoad drills. Six weeks of left-leg-only turbos.
-
• #2336
I have considered it. Lol.
I have a free trial pending. But I’m just doing some workout using the tacx training app

I've been whipped on the track by a guy with one leg.
I watched him racing at National level a few months later though so don't feel so bad.

Managed to give myself a saddle sore / hole in skin from doing high cadence stuff on aerobars. How stupid is that?
-
• #2339
Why would you do HCLR on aerobars? It's not like you're going to be busting out 150rpm efforts when tucked in.
-
• #2340
Fuck knows. Because sometimes I am stupid.
I'm trying to do everything on my aerobars. TrainerRoad told me to up my cadence a bit and I got carried away as it was a long, low intensity, boring one.
I was only doing about 110-120 as well.
Old shorts didn't help
I might need to give it a week to heal now - plaster doesn't seem to be sticking and if I start taping at this stage in the race it is a bad sign. And it will pull the scab off when I take it off. -

What I find helps is to ignore the TR commentary 95% of the time.
-
• #2342
There's
commentary
?

A bit of trimming and taping got me through today's session but I need better tape as a bit of a gluey mess.

New trainer time. My wife is sick of hearing mine squeaking.
Flux v Elite Direto. They both seem good unless you’re unlucky and get one of the shonky units that’s slipped through QC.
Edit - also the Kickr Core.
Anybody got any horror stories re either of them?

squeaking
Where? Lubing an existing turbo is cheaper and better for the planet than buying a new one.
I'm trying to eek out the last miles on a tyre on the turbo at the moment. The tread has broken away from the sidewall and it's now a fine line between getting the most mileage out of it and it exploding the tube within...

It’s a seven year old Cycleops Fluid. The thing is rooted (as you lot say).
I want a smart trainer anyway so I can use erg mode in some circumstances.
-
• #2348
I’ve got a crank based PM so no issue for me there.
Unless one turns out to be wildly inaccurate.
-
• #2349
Be interesting to know how the smart trainers compare with powermeters.
I presume someone like DCRain has been testing them? -
• #2350
My neo seems bang on.
No reason to not be if calibrated.
Back pedal briefly and go again.
