  • Nottingham is a great place to be a football manager.

  • Since 1999, County have had 24 managers and Forest have had 19 (neither including caretakers, nor Karanka's replacement).

  • Yes. But it's way more stable than it has been for a bit I think.

  • Are Forest still owned by that Kuwaiti fella? I remember they bought a Kuwait player just because they owner wanted to.

  • Certainly not for the world's oldest professional football club™ as they sit at the bottom of League 2 with their 3rd manager of the season.

  • Ha - the only 2 U-18s not born in Greater Ldn are the sons of Pochettino and Spurs all-time legend Teemu Tainio....

  • yeah I noted that. Was wondering whether dad (Tainio) was on the coaching staff, but he's not.

  • Harvey Barnes recalled to Leicester @Markyboy

That's the end of our promotion charge....

  • So after the distance rules fall away at 16, Chelsea’s academy becomes a place to stash promising overseas players in various teams around Europe?

No. Chelsea have the most successful U18 side in recent years. Loans are used for players who reach 18 as a way of giving them regular playing time, allowing to gain experience and a way of seeing if they will mature into first team players.

Everything one reads about Chelsea's loan programme makes it clear that Chelsea loanees are clear that they are first and foremost Chelsea players. They have to call the club immediately after every game that they play. They are in almost daily contact. Their data is keenly monitored.

When Abramovich bought Chelsea he spent money on both the Youth and Women's sides. Both have been raised to challenge alongside the very best in Europe. FFP brought about a strategic decision to invest further in Youth and to use the loan system to help develop players as a self sustaining financial operation which has the added benefitt that if players like Hudson Odoi, Christianssen or Ampadu make it into the first team, they do so without transfer costs. Chelsea get first pick of a top rate talent pool.

  • Tl;dr

    Stop trolling Corney

We're owned by a Greek shipping magnate now. Olympiakos have become our feeder side. And his by the looks of him.

  • The last time a manager saw out a whole season at Forest was the 2010/11 season. And that manager was...

    Billy Davies!

(Who coincidentally is still looking for a job)

  • Didn't they buy Ampadu though? From Exeter I think.

  • Isn't he dodgy as fuck. When we played Olympiakos I'm sure there was various stuff about him being involved in match fixing and drug trafficking

    All sounds above board.

Never been convicted for anything I should add.

  • I would tell you to take your own advice, but that would fall on deaf partisan ears...

    I rarely go to Belgravia

  • why train the youngsters when you can buy a ready trained " the new virgil van dyjk " from ajax for £90,000

i'm sure most youngsters have eaten £90k's worth of pasta in the 8 to 16yr old phase at the academy whilst training

  • No one chatting about Bielsa employing spies at Leeds to go to opponents training grounds and report back?

When I first heard that someone had been removed from the training ground by police I thought Rowett was trying to get some old files off the computer to help with his CV. Then it turned out it was a spy for Bielsa.

Not sure anything will come from it, but it's all a bit weird innit.

  • Bielsa's mad as a box of frogs, by all accounts, I wouldn't put anything past him. I'm wondering how the national press will deal with him and vice versa if Leeds get promoted..

edit: initial post felt a bit harsh..

  • It's this unwillingness to travel on wet Wednesday nights that's killing football.
    You plastic.

  • Looks like the spying was worth it.

  • Worst I've seen us play in a long time, but I don't think he needed to send a spy to see how we were going to play. They pressed us all match and we couldn't string any passes together. Referee was awful for both sides.

We need to improve if we want to go up, but I'm not sure if we're going to be able to bring in the quality of player we need this month. Frank has said there isn't much chance of bringing people in. The only thing I've heard that was concrete was that we were looking to bring in Ampadu, but Chelsea want to keep hold of him now.

Leeds were excellent all over the pitch (and that is painful to type). Bielsa has got them playing some great stuff.
