I got pretty decent results on my headlights using a cloth and some toothpaste. Took a few minutes per light.

Let me see what I have at Christmas. I used to have half a shed full of mk2 and 2F parts, I definitely once had a load of seals but sadly I did clear a whole load of stuff out a few years back.

I’d also caution that the haze, which is oxidation in the surface of the lamp caused by UV exposure, may be somewhat deeper in a car that has lived in Australia it’s entire life than a UK vehicle.

=I’d expect to have to cut a lot more material away before getting to a surface that could then be polished smooth.
