  • Really lusting after a Discovery 3, really utilitarian, all that space, I could sleep in the back at Goodwood, apparently they go wrong and cost many € to fix

  • Buy mine if you wish? It's just had an engine rebuild and torque converter done so it's good to go.

They really are great to sleep in the back of and the space is endless. I'll miss it but it's time for something with back seats etc.

  • Truck, as interesting as the cars are I find them a bit ugly.

  • I really need to learn to drive stick ASAP... I can already feel the urge for a short wheelbase FJ/HJ coming on...

  • I was always about the kingswoods and the monaros. the toranas were a bit povv.

  • ...or a '65 impala

there's a really cool factory rhd one on ausso ebay atm....

  • This would totally do me, no real need for a Troopy... Lovely...

  • they are so fucken awesome. i'd go for a troopy though

  • Something like the 813/815?

  • get a ute, joe.

  • Moreton Island, tho'... Physics... I'd much prefer a Troopy...

I want a ute so bad, would have to be a double cab for gigs and not really sure I want that... One of our mates has a late 70s auto Toyota ute, it is a thing of absolute beauty...

Cheap ute is on the cards, but cheap utes are hard to find... Good thing I've got loads of tradie neighbours!!!

  • I actually reckon it's the 80's land cruiser is the go. Although I do have a weird hankering for a current V8 turbo troopie...

  • I was always about the kingswoods and the monaros. the toranas were a bit povv

I spent a few years growing up in Bowen mountain, out past Windsor, Sydney... Munro's we're way too fancy

  • Obvs...

  • yep

    the patrols were awesome too.

  • I've got a headache in my pants...

  • Tonight I'm a bit pissed off that the free car thing landed in our laps, I don't wanna seem ungrateful, because I'm really fucking not, but choice is a wonderful thing... My heart was set on a really white bread Forester...

Ute or HJ/FJ or 80s LandCruiser will win the day... Lori wants a brand new 'Rolla... Fuck... Off...

  • M3 ITB's:

The runner's in the new heads have had the angle changed by the chap who has ported the heads, so we need to visit his workshop (picking up the newest tappet carrier from the machine shop en-route) to establish what chamfer angle the sandwich plate is going to need.

  • You're using M3 ITBs? Presumably dividing the six ITBs into two banks of three? Linking two banks together might be fun.

  • Correct, we are going to use one electronic actuator per bank rather than a mechanical link and a cable.

  • Oooo, mapable throttle response. Tasty.

  • Makes sense - the ECU (Syvecs in this case) can see the throttle pedal move the milli-second it does so, rather than seeing the TPS signal after the throttle butterfly opens.

Also brings in a whole range of sophisticated traction and stability control possibilities that are impossible with a cable throttle.

Finally, we have two balance tubes, each with a butterfly in, inside the plenum that feeds the two banks of ITB's, which the ECU will control.

  • Just got a courtesy car.

    Nissan JamiroQuai.

    My SUV lob has shrunk.

  • A very long weekend away in Scotland and decided to opt out to take the train this time round as I'm traveling to Dundee and Aberdeen from Glasgow and back so I've got myself a hired car. Initially it was a smart runabout, but they ran out (who knew it was such a popular car) they had an X3, C-Class and other which didn't really tickle my fancy, until I saw on the page there was an Abarth 595 and literally I was like 'Shut up and take my money!!!!'

It's been a few years since I driven a proper car that wasn't a people carrier or automatic this little hatchback brought back a few memories of joy and a massive smile back to my face! Never driven a turbo charge car before or a car with electronic dials before either. The turbo gauge is just comical fun with its rev dial to 2.0 boost and that instant power never gets old, especially on the motorway. For the electronic dials, (for this version anyways) is rather a gimmick and there is a lag between power and what is happening in real time. Hey ho still good fun and it reminds me of a arcade game.

Only problem now is getting back from Aberdeen, as apparently there is a snow storm coming tomorrow which in hindsight I wish I choose the X3...
