So my SON edelux front light is misbehaving and not working but only when I have the rear light connected too. Any suggestions on trouble shooting this issue?
-
• #4904
Problem with this kind of light is the beam is completely blinding to anyone coming the other way.

I will only use the ultra bright beam in the park on the way home .will run the normal beam on the public road. Might keep my cats eye light on the bike as well.

Yes but not after that age. IIRC they didn't ask though. Ask. Worst they can say is no.

What's the battery like?
-
• #4908
So far i have done around 3 hour on normal with about 20 mins on full beam going through RP.and still going not bad for a cheap lamp.

Sorry, I meant what kind of pack, cells, straps etc.
-
• #4910
The cell is below the light unit and comes with a rubber strap.i found that mounting the lamp above the bar it kept tipping forward so i mounted the lamp under the bar no more dipping foward .

Water got inside my front light while riding yesterday. I think it’s dead (it’s in a tub of rice on the radiator).
Any recommendations for a front light that can easily be switched from solid beam to flashing? Around £50 and will be used for commuting/courier work.
I was thinking a Cateye Volt?
I had a 5 year old light&motion urban which was amazing. I was going to replace it which a newer version of the same light, but for some reason they removed the flashing option from them.

I've had a few different Moon ones and they've been good so far. This is around your budget https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Moon-Meteor-1200-Front-Light_97526.htm but there are a few models in that price range (and various random discounts) so have a look and see what features you want.

I use the following in my Hope Vision 1 and just charge at work when I need to:
https://www.7dayshop.com/products/7dayshop-fast-intelligent-lcd-display-mains-battery-charger-for-aa-aaa-nimh-rechargeable-batteries-wh2-ds-145
https://www.7dayshop.com/products/7dayshop-aa-hr06-2900-high-performance-nimh-rechargeable-batteries-4-pack-7dayaa29004caseI only really use the Hope in the winter as my Cycliq 12 is sufficient on it's own in the lighter evenings in the remainder of the year, so I don't see much value in buying a new model.

Some of the own brand Halfords bikehut lights which people seemed to approve of upthread are currently on at 35% off - just snagged a 1000 lumen front light w/ inc outfront mount for £28

Hope Vision 1? Easily removeable flash/solid. The old ones are about your price range I think. They take AAs. Problem is they stop without warning so always have a spare set of batteries.

I nearly got one of them at the weekend but held off as I don't really need it :) Interested to see what you think of it when you've used it though!

Nice one, thanks. Suspected that'd be the case. If only there was a usb rechargable battery insert equivalent to 4*AA, but alas it seems that's a niche nobody wants or needs to fill.

Rechargeable AAs are way more useful than proprietary-sized battery packs.
-
• #4919
Yeah I can't disagree.
I'd had this vision of a product and a (misguided) hope that it would be useful to others rather than just me. Oh well.

You can buy the battery holders for <£4. You could mess around with a soldering iron, some cables and a USB port?
I know nothing about electronics btw :)

The Vision one is different to the Dinotte one though which means they're probably all bloody specific cases.
-

The tricky bit is all the gubbins that controls the charging. Diminishing returns on tinkering time invested - think I'll just deal with removing the batteries from the holder for charging :)

Cheers for all the replies. Will take a look at all the suggestions.
Forgot to add it needs to be USB rechargeable.

Does the packaging show the run time of each light mode? The Halfords website doesn’t show that info.
