  • Re-watching The Cable Guy for the first time in years. Just realised it was a Ben Stiller...

  • Don’t worry, he won’t get far on foot. Not normally a van sant fan but this is brilliant. Phoenix as cartoonist John Callahan

  • There are no Queen songs in it?

    #amirite?

  • A pal of mine was wankimg himself silly over the trailer for BoRap, insisting that we go see it as soon as it comes out.
When I mentioned I don't care for Queen and a don't think it's for me, he looked like I had offered to sell his children to a Taiwanese trainer factory and keep the money.

Glad I'm not alone in not liking Queen
(Aside form the Highlander soundtrack but that may just be Clancy Brown making everything good)

  • Ghost Stories: Not bad at all in keeping the tension in, some lazy dialogue/scripting on the believer vs non-believer and personal life vs work stuff. The individual stories were great at keeping the tension in, the last new character was great.

That ending though, it didn't wrap anything up thematically. But all in all worth a watch for the cases stories and the 10 minutes before the ending.

  • Wind River. Good. Very good.

  • Father in law recommend this the other day, going against his usual trend of awful films that he talks through anyway.

    No talking, thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • Wildlife is excellent; some beautiful shots and Carey Mulligan is stellar.

  • Went to see BoRap at the new Everyman Crystal Palace during the week. The cinema is an Art Deco gem and was worth the trek over from East London, as for the film the EagleEyez / WillMelling comments on the previous page sum up my thoughts nicely.

  • Looks lovely, that

For anyone else who's got nothing to do tonight, Hell or High Water is on Film 4 at 9pm, great flick.

  • Widows is good. Really, really good.

  • Saw it last night, one of those rare films where you get audience whoops, gasps and claps all the way through. Why such a dry last ten seconds though, or did I miss something?

  • Widows is really good, think they did a little too much to with one bit of the storyline. Overall definitely very well acted and intelligent movie.

  • Sort of liked it and Jeremy Renner is good in it...but cough white saviour

  • I thought Widows was a very enjoyable Hollywood outing.

An Evening With Beverley Luff Linn, funniest thing I've seen in ages. Pretty odd and not to everyone's taste no doubt tho.

Watched Tag last night, a good few chuckles - perfect low expectation/low attention film.

  • Fantastic Beasts: Return of the Beasts - was pretty disappointed. Most of the critics have got it right, tonally all over the shop, plodding, some nice set pieces, and downright shoddy writing.

  • The Ballad of Buster Scruggs on Netflix.
    Coen Brothers latest. Great fun.

I do love a Coen Brothers film and Western movies are a favourite genre of mine, so it may not be for everyone.

The Ax, based on a Donald Westlake book. A man gets laid of after downsizing and after two years of unemployment he decides to literally eliminate the competition...

Black comedy and social critique with a touch of how it sucks to be unemployed as main breadwinner.

Maybe it's a bit too easy for the guy to kill, that's never explained and it's a little slow in places but not bad overall.

  • I love a western too. Each of these stories has something good going on, the first was particularly enjoyable and out there.

  • Agree. Some duff elements but satisfying overall. Loved the Tom Waites section. And soundtrack throughout

  • Fantastic Beasts 2

Hadn't seen the first one. Pretty pointless affair, with very fleeting moments of slight charm.

  • Isle of Dogs. Pretty, but a big fat meh from me and Mrs EB (who is obsessed with Dogs)

  • Suspiria 2018.
Some experience. Savage and beautiful. (Greenhell, I think you'll like this)
Tilda Swinton shines in 3 roles.
The dancing is awesome and so so creepy.
A respectful hommage to Argento regarding the feeling and references though a powerful film that stands alone (Or perhaps that stands as the forst part of a trilogy of witches films

Many people will no doubt hate it

  • Bohemian Rhapsody.
Enjoyable because the music is good. The film itself is completely forgettable.
