I have a feeling they should've spoken to rr4m first...

  • Ouch, those things look weighty

  • And pricey, £32 just for the Arduino board never mind the extra bits needed.

New batch in stock, just ordered mine.

    Gah! Sold out again!

thats exactly what I am looking for.

  • The maxi is absolutely incredible

I've a pair of the original ledus lights to sell if you want them?

I used them maybe for two night rides and the wheels they're on haven't even been outside this year so better someone else get some use from them!

  • I have a pair of ledus (the smaller ones) - I wasn't able to get them working reliably (possibly says more about the deficiencies in my technical ability than any product failing) & have got a pair of M232 Monkey Lights that I have found are 100% reliable and provide a superb side visibility light show !!

If you email them, they might be able to tell you when they think they'll next have a batch in stock.

    PM'ed

  • ledus look good, never seen anything like it up here. Would defo be noticeable.

  • BUMP!!

Is there a forum approved spoke light?

  • exposure strada light spreads the beam sideways, so no need for an extra light. i have mine mounted under the tops of drop bars. it illuminates to either side, you can see a shadow of the drops and shifters immediately to the sides.

  • you could probably fashion a light cover out of the translucent milk carton plastic and stick it on some cheap secondary lights like the old camping lantern trick.

  • i want to see you putt this on your spokes! ;) (its a great idea for a mega light!)

I'll let you know if they work when mine comes.

  • 290 pounds light??? and i thought the knog small lights are expensive.... (i must be a cheap bastard)

  • I looked at these and thought they looked great. But then I thought about being in a vehicle at night, and seeing an orange blur, I wouldn't think oh hey look there's a bike.

  • True, but they might think "what the fuck is that?" and then realise it's a bike when they look properly.

Tho my worry would be that those pictures are a best case image and the dull orange won't even register on a rain soaked sodium lit street. Keep us posted as to how they work @MrSweary

  • Apparently the light bounces off moving legs / cranks and catches the eye up to 3 times further away. There is some spiel about it on the website I think.

I think it is more that a driver would say - hey look there's something, I'll take more care.

  • Will do. Although might have to do a LFGSS ride-by so other people can gauge how effective they are.

  • Cut an ass-saver out off the bottle:

  • But remote control makes nighttime descents safer.

  • i know good quality stuff comes at various prices and sometimes its just for different pockets! i envy the light! thats for sure!! :)

  • The orb arrived yesterday. Solidly built and not overly heavy. It has multiple light modes but I think I'll use solid. Battery life is supposedly 14 hours. On button and USB port seem solid. Haven't used it in anger yet but will report back after my ride home.

Only comment so far is that it is quite long and getting it in the cage isn't as straight forward as for a normal bottle, at least on a sloping geo 54 frame. Also quite easy to switch on / mode when taking a drink and a little slippery in the hand but we'll see how that goes.
