• should be fine. in my experience they will be more interested in the incident itself than what was said afterwards.

example: got close passed a few months ago. the driver got out and made several threats to kill me. i asked him how he planned do it, and reminded him that if he had done that on his driving test he would probably have failed.

i felt pretty ashamed about the whole thing - it did make me think twice about reporting it. after deliberation i did, he was issued with notice of intended prosecution and nothing was said about his threats / or my belligerence towards him.

  • thanks all, i think i get it now... so if it was just my colleague in the footage they would release it - but in this instance, as there is another road user also identifiable in the footage, it becomes more difficult?

The bus company still has to give a copy of the footage with your colleague in it to your colleague. How they go about making the other people unidentifiable is their problem.

  • Threats to kill is a pretty serious offence, no?

  • Not if you are driving a car at the time, then it's just playful banter.

Similar to when you give someone a little nudge for fun in your SUV - anything up to 80 or 90 mph is fine and should be taken by the recipient in the spirit it's intended.

  • Yep.

Had footage of a bloke in a Golf saying "I'm going to kill you" to me and then drive into me. Sent it to the plod expecting an open and shut case (young and foolish), and they asked if he had a weapon visible. Nah mate, apart from the motorised steel box. They didn't give two shits.

  • Tesco lorry, coming from behind in the next lane, decides to change lane through me and another person on a bike.

I have cameras, and will get uppity with Tesco later.

  • still don't understand mentality like this and it's utterly depressing hearing this spewed from mouth breathers who are supposed to uphold some sort of law.

  • Battered tipper truck driver tooting people to get out of the way before bowling through ped crossings on Southwark Bridge Road this morning. Didn't manage to stop at the red lights on the other side of Southwark Bridge either and nearly took out a lady cyclist. Getting Roadsafed tonight fwiw.

  • From reading a bit more about roadsafe it sounds as though they use it for data gathering as much as prosecuting.

So even if your report doesn’t result in a prosecution maybe it will add to the numbers and highlight an issue so they can justify putting more resources into tackling it?

  • Driver sat in front of me at the traffic lights in Friday rush hour traffic, holding phone having a FaceTime conversation.

Lights went green for peds, driver set off but managed to stop after 5 or so meters into the asl box.

Lights then went green for driver, which they were oblivious to and so just sat there continuing phone conversation.

Lights turned red for driver again.

Didn’t notice when I walked round to the drivers door and stood there, only noticed when I gently tapped on the window.

Roadsafe notice of intended prosecution on its way to you.

  • Yeah, the police didn't seem interested in the guy who threatened me (twice) in two weeks recently, despite his being on camera. The letter informing me did say something about retaining and passing on details of the incident though, I think.

Great that they'll have some reinforcing evidence when these a-holes actually kill some poor sod.....

  • The police don't give a shit generally, about anything.

  • Zing

Complaints made etc... through howsmy.co.uk - Will be interested to see if this actually goes anywhere.

While it's not the worst of close passes, it's not not a too close a pass.

  • Looks pretty bloody close from the rear camera

  • I was gonna say the exact same thing. Effff that!

  • A pillion on a scooter kicked me in the leg as they overtook. Not particularly powerful and I stayed upright easily enough, wot a cunt though.

Country road, no CCTV, no streetlights, no idea of the reg... any point telling the cops?

  • just got an email from police saying they've been summonsed. if they plead not guilty i will be called to court as a witness. i called them back to ask what offence(s) they've been summonsed for and it's the driving offense but not the threats... now i'm starting to feel pretty anxious about the prospect of encountering them again if i do have to go to court.

  • i'm starting to feel pretty anxious about the prospect of encountering them again if i do have to go to court

Give Victim Support a call or maybe CAB Witness Service

  • In my experience, cunts are cunts because they think they can get away with it. If they've been summoned to court, then unless they're the thickest of the thick they're going to be meek AF.

  • good point, hadn't thought about it that way.

thanks @jellybaby will consider it in due course if i do eventually get called in.

  • Was in court as a witness, and the guy who was an utter bellwhiff on the road, didn't even look at me or the guy he knocked off.

Reality has come along and knocked these fuckers in the mouth hard enough that they've actually got to sit down and think about what they've done, and that's not what they've done to you, it's what they've done to themselves.

They just care about the fact they might get a big fine or a driving ban, and that is hitting them where it hurts.
