• Kinlin XR22T/XR22TR, Cyclebasket for Aci DB spokes, Bitex hubs, brass nips.

    20h front, 24h rear.

I’d hazard a guess that’s 1650g? Not hard to build, repairable and nice to ride (once you’ve lost 10kg) and you can buy the parts within budget.

  • Yeah, that's what makes e.g. Aksiums so unappealing. Just don't have time to wait for postage from China for hubs etc. But sod it, maybe I'll just find the best bits I can that will arrive in time to build some.

@hippy okay, everyone knows how low my standards are now - I mean lightweight in comparison. My lightest bike is probably my Kona Sutra so that ought to tell you something.

For reference I bought this - should have taken the wheels with it

  • Plug in some climbs and some weights and see how much/little difference it makes.

Oh god, that front brake cable routing gives me nightmares.

Aksiums are bomb proof, after 4 years and a lot of miles my rear axel is bent, and some of the spokes are loose, but they run true. Hunts are pretty fragile, my friend hit a pothole with his on the first day and snapped a spoke he must be 60kg max,
