Yeah, that's what makes e.g. Aksiums so unappealing. Just don't have time to wait for postage from China for hubs etc. But sod it, maybe I'll just find the best bits I can that will arrive in time to build some.
@hippy okay, everyone knows how low my standards are now - I mean lightweight in comparison. My lightest bike is probably my Kona Sutra so that ought to tell you something.

My problem with those (and the Coles) is they're nearly 1900g. The whole point of this bike is to ride up some mountains (in violation of my own principles, on normal road gearing, not 20 GI). Feel like there must be something better out there second hand for £150. Feel like I could build something better myself for £150 in fact but don't have time.
But you're right, both of those options I suggested aren't great in comparison to the Aksiums. Urgh.
Annoyingly I sold some hardly-used Fulcrum Racing 5 for £50 a few months ago, they would have done the job
