  • Trying some Nike Pegasus 35’s. bouncy.

  • And ended up with some Adidas Solar Boost

  • 4th run and first 10k in the last year yesterday @52mins
Signed up for a 10k with LadyLiz and housemate in a couple of weeks.
Going for a run/walk scamper in Epping forest tomorrow.
Feels nice to run again but my god I’m slow.

  • Race vest with soft flask(s)? But just get the Decathlon backpack with 1l bladder. A new design, better than the last design which I used for a year and got on with but this one is better, smaller bladder with the idea if you want to carry more water there is space for soft flasks on the front.

Edit: Sorry that was a bit blunt. The Decathlon pack is about £25, way cheaper than the competition. Decent quality. Useful if you need to carry a little extra.

  • Now, a boast post if I may?

Ran the Dare 12 earlier, and things went pretty perfectly. Ended up running 12 laps (96km) which was better than I thought I'd do, and got my best ever race placing of 2nd place. Pretty damn happy with today!

  • Impressive. Well done you, I think you're entitled to your boast!

  • How much liquid do you want to carry? I've got a minimal Camelbak with a 2l bladder, an UD race vest that takes two 500ml soft flasks, and a Salomon Pulse belt that takes one 500ml soft flask. Give me a shout if you want to try any of them out

  • Amazing, great effort!

  • Thanks everyone. I will write a few more words when I have recovered a bit and have a keyboard in front of me.

  • Nice one, [nerd]that'd make a good graph [/nerd]

  • @Arducius great run, look forward to one your write ups. I did just buy the smallest Alpkit backpack and 2L bladder whilst having daydreams of something long and hilly but feel it’s overkill for ~2hr runs.

@5awyr very kind I may well give you a shout, be good to say hi. I think just a belt and 500ml would be enough.

    Looking back it’s been one year since I started running, down to 75kg from 91, 5K 20.30, 10K 44.30, 21.1K 1.58.00. A bench mark for improvement.

  • Inspired by this thread I am walking back from a 24 minute 5k - went out at the pace I used to be able to run, almost blew, slowed it up, recovered, put on a bit more speed and then basically stumbled the last 500m as my legs went on strike.

Still, my new shoes are good.

  • Been using Nike Run Club then using N+ Exporter to get it onto Strava. I did a run today and despite both having approximately similar overall average paces the breakdown was completely different. Any suggestions as to why this has occurred / is there a better of getting activities from NRC to Strava than N+ Exporter?

  • Huge improvement, well done!

  • Epic! Look forward to the report.

Some long run tourism this weekend, helping with my mate's birthday celebs in Malvern. Felt surprisingly chirpy at 8.30 this morning after six pints and a Chinese*, and managed 20 miles without too much discomfort. (Avoided the really hilly bits.) Very encouraging after the slog-fest my last 20 miler turned into.

*The night before. Not for brekky. :)

  • Well done!

What age bracket are you in?

  • Some fun video footage of the Ladywell 10,000 event courtesy of a club mate with a drone. I make the odd appearance in a Herne Hill cycling cap.

  • Cheers....support/encouragement on this thread helps..! not too long ago I was being all grumpy about having back pain and doing MRI scans and moaning to doctors.

    Age cat is SM 30-34

  • I stopped using NRC quite early on because of these type of glitches, looks like you’re Apple from the screen grabs, why not just use the Strava app?

  • I started using NRC because I read some reviews saying it was better. My experience has been the opposite and seeing as I upload it to Strava anyway I’m more than happy to ditch NRC

  • Long read, some good kit & race 'management' advice for ultra folks:

    Edit. V70!

  • Impressive! I hope I'm up to that level by the time I'm in my seventies!!
